Togadiya’s statement not acceptable: Mirwaiz
Criticizes Government of double standard
Srinagar, Mar 9 (VOS): Strongly objecting Vishwa Hindu Pareshad chief, Praveen Togidya’s comments, Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq Friday said that such statements were to fuel the religious hatred.
Addressing Friday gathering at historic Jamia Masjid here, the Mirwaiz said, “History stands testimony to the fact that Muslims of the state have always been very friendly to non-Muslims. However it is unfortunate that while the fundamentalist powers of India were trying to disturb the age old communal harmony, the puppet government was welcoming the people like Togadiya.”
He said that on one side the state government was disallowing human rights activists like Gutam Navlakha to enter Kashmir, “but on the other hand they were crushing the peaceful protestors who raised their voice against the anti-Islam and anti-Muslim statements made by people like Togadiya.”
Mirwaiz said, “A Muslim can tolerate anything but there is no way to accept anti-Islam comments.”
Expressing solidarity with the people of Rajouri, the Mirwaiz stressed that the communal forces should be brought dealt firmly and the arrests of Muslims should be stopped.
Meanwhile, Umar condemned arrest of senior Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmad Shah near Sumbal on Friday. (VOS)
