35 livestock deaths in Doda due to recent snowfall: Ruhullah
JAMMU, March
08:-Minister for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Aga Syed Ruhullah today told the
Legislative Council that 35 livestock died due to recent snow fall in the Doda
district. He said of them, 12 deaths took place in Bhaderwah Tehsil, 17 in
Thathri Tehsil including Chirralah and 06 in Tehsil Bhallesa of the district.
Replying to
a Calling Attention Notice moved by Mr. Naresh Kumar Gupta, the Minister said a
financial loss of Rs. 1.91, 000/- has been caused due to the death of above
livestock. The relief as per the norms under Calamity Relief Fund is under
process, he added saying a survey in this regard is underway.

Sheep and Veterinary Institutions including 18 centers running through internal
arrangement are working in Doda district which cater to about 7.57 lakhs
livestock. He said medicines worth Rs. 106 lakhs were purchased and utilized in
the district during the last two years and an amount of Rs. 54 lakhs has been
earmarked for the medicines during the current year.
