61 people rescued at Yocha near Padum
JAMMU, MARCH 06-On receiving report regarding stranded people in Chadder route towards Zanskar, a rescue team headed by Sub-Division Magistrate, Zanskar, Mr. Ghulam Mohu-ud-Din Wani comprising of Police party, medical team, army and locals from Zangla/Padum village rushed to the spot with all the necessaries on 2nd March..
The rescue team rescued 61 people including 14 women and children. They were stranded due to breakage of chadder (frozen ice bed) at Yocha 63 kms away from Padum.
Later they were shifted to Padum in vehicles.
Except army, the rescue team camped at Nilima for two days and rescued 44 people including 12 women and children. On 3rd of March, 9 people including 5 women and children were rescued and on 4th March in the same manner.
