DIG for adoption of ethics of human rights as enshrined in constitution
Srinagar, Mar 17 (VOS): A debate titled “ State violation of Human Rights destroys Public faith in governance and thus feeds Terrorism” was today held at the conference Hall of Zonal Police Headquarters-Srinagar-ZPHQ. The debate was inaugurated by DIG CKR Srinagar. In his inaugural remarks,  the Deputy Inspector General of Police-DIG Central Kashmir Range-Mr A.G.Mir, stressed on the need to adopt the ethics of human rights as enshrined in the constitution as well as in the basic laws of nature. The DIG asserted that, we must get sensitized with the issue, in view of the fact that Police force represents the state more than any other organisation. Policeman is more visible on ground than any other employee of the government, as such he is more accountable to system.
             The DIG further added that, J&K Police is emerging as a prime organ of state establishment, which believes in respecting Human rights . He said that that the responsibility of the state is two folded. It is not only that it has to en sure that state itself does not violate human rights but also has to protects its citizens from violating human rights by the non state actors.
             Speakers in the debate, include those  officers who had qualified for the Zonal level debate, in the district and range levels respectively. Thirteen-13 officers spoke in favour of the motion, while ten-10 participants spoke  against it. Mr. Imtiaz Ismail- ASP-Sub Divisional Police officer-SDPO Shaheedgung-Sgr, Mr Mohammad Yousuf Inspector-District Shopian and Mr Sajad Khaliq-DySp Hqrs Kupwara, bagged Ist, 2nd and 3rd best individual participants awards  respectively. Similarly, District Srinagar won the best district team while, Shopian, bagged   the runners-up. These awards were presented by the chief guest- the DIG CKR-Sgr.
             The award was evaluated by a panel of Jury members comprising of  a leading luminary Professor (Dr)- Mehraj-din, former Registrar Kashmir University and Head of the department-Law, Central University of Kashmir, Mr Suhail Munawar-SP, SO to DIG CKR and Mr Mushtaq Ahmad, Deputy Director Prosecution.
             Syed Ghulam Mohidin  Andrabi-SP SO to IGP Kashmir, presented the vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to the participants for their participation and for sharing their views on this issue. Among others, Mr Mushtaq Ahmad Pandith- Joint director Prosecution-ZPHQ, all Zonal Superintendents of Police, district Srinagar, and a large number of young gazetted and non-gazetted officers participated in the day long debate.
