Kupwara girl’s murder
HC asks police to file objections within 4-weeks
Srinagar, Mar 17 (VOS): The High Court on Saturday asked Director General Police, Inspector General Police, SSP Kupwara, SHO Lalpora to file objections in a murder case of a Kupwara girl within four weeks.
The court of Justice Mohammad Yasoob Mir ordered the police to file the objections in the petition filed by the father of Waqar Ahmad Khan accused of murdering his wife.
Advocate Sheikh Manzoor who appeared on behalf of the petitioner sought directions upon the DGP to conduct the investigation of the case through CBI, Crime Branch or by police monitored by the IGP on day to day basis.
The court while passing the orders asked the police to furnish objections with four weeks.
The petitioner claims that his son had entered into a marriage contract with the daughter of one of the respondents as per Muslim Personal Law. “Since the marriage was an inter-caste, it was never acceptable to the parents of the girl. The parents of the girl during subsistence of the earlier marriage tried to get their daughter married with another person,” the petitioner claims.
“The girl requested his husband (petitioner’s son) to get her released from the illegal confinement of pvt respondents. The petitioners son approached SDPO Sogam with an application to get his wife released from illegal confinement who directed I/C Police Post Khurhama to take action under law. When petitioner’s son approached the police station, he was asked to come tomorrow,” the petition claims.
“In the meantime police received a message that the confine is dead and when the petitioner’s son approached the police, two FIRs were registered and the petitioner alongwith other persons accompanying him were detained by the police in the said FIRs,” it added.
The petitioner alleges that police knows who the real culprits area “but have implicated his son in the case.”
“The petitioners are not averse to the investigation, but concerned police is just trying to implicate the innocent persons instead of arresting the real culprits,” it added.
