A fine of Rs 42,715 recovered from 480 smokers in Kupwara

            KUPWARA, MARCH 06: By the directions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, who is also the Chairman of District Level Committee under Cigarette Act, 2003, the Food Safety Officers of district Kupwara inspected various public places, government offices, court premises, educational institutions in Kupwara district for the implementation of Cigarette Act, 2003.

            During the inspection, the team has realized on-the-spot fine from the smokers who were found smoking in public places.

            According to Food Safety Officer, Kupwara, the fine imposed from 480 smokers during the last four months is Rs. 42,715.

            Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara said that this drive will continue till the educational institutions and public places are made smoke free.
