3785 Ha under Saffron cultivation: Mir

Jammu, Mar 12 (VOS): Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Hassan Mir replying to a question by Ajay Kumar Sadhotra said that 3785 hectares of land are under saffron cultivation and the annual production has reached to 9.55 metric tones.

He said that under Economic Revival of Saffron National Mission, he said there is no provision for bringing additional area under saffron cultivation however, he, said the department is making all out efforts for introduction of Saffron on commercial scale in non-traditional areas in the agro-climatically suitable zones of the state under centrally sponsored scheme “Horticulture Mission for North East and Himalyan States”
