Rs. 27 cr clincker Grinding Unit Samba to be put to trial production in November, 2012: Slathia
JKCL gets appreciation letters for outstanding performance 
            SRINAGAR, JULY 9:- The Jammu & Kashmir Cements Limited  which is one of major profit earning corporations of the State (JKCL) has achieved an all time HIGH Business turnover of Rs. 120.50 Crores during the last fiscal against Rs. 81.87 Crores achieved during the previous fiscal (2010-11) registering an increase of Rs.  47.18% .The Corporation has a target of Rs. 180 Crores business turnover during the current fiscal.
           This was stated at the 96th meeting of the Board of Directors of JKCL presided by the Minister for industries & Commerce, Mr. S. S. Slathia, who is also Chairman of the Corporation. It was informed  that  the Corporation also excelled in the field of production with clinker production touching highest ever 172,280  MTs and Cement production at 177550 MT during the last fiscal.. The Corporation has a target to produce 2,55,000  MTs of clinker and 2,66,166 MTs of cement during the current fiscal. The Corporation has  sold 1,77,694 MTs of cement during last fiscal year  with a target to sell 2,66,500 MT during the current fiscal,
            It was informed that the under construction Rs. 27.00  cr clinker Grinding-cum-packing unit at samba, Jammu will be put to  trial run in the first week of November this year.. Meanwhile the Board of Directors today approved proposal to fulfill all the basic critical requirements to ensure commissioning of this unit in November, 2012. The unit has a production capacity of 300 tonnes per day.
           The Board also approved in principle to create cement storage facility at Leh and Kargil for which a provision of Rs. 70 lacs has been kept in the current year budget to start with.
           The Board also approved the proposal of the Corporation regarding brand promotion of Jehlum Brand Cement in the Public and up gradation of the existing TESTING LAB AT Cement Plant Khrew. The Corporation has decided to introduce special incentive to its  dealers for promotion of cement  sale in a big way.
            The Managing Director of the Corporation, Mr. R. K. Razdan informed the Board of Directors about various measures taken up towards fulfilling its corporate social responsibility adding that an independent environment management wing under the comfort of an environment expert is being set up in the corporation which will be fully equipped and look after entire plant including quarry. He said already modern pollution control gadgets have been installed in various units of the cement plant. He said company has recently paid Rs. 1.00 cr dividend to the Government.
            Speaking on the occasion, the Minister while appreciating the corporation for its good performance, called for utilizing the full installed capacity of the cement plant adding that “our main  focus should be to catch maximum market share”. He said as per the survey, the requirement of cement in the state is 30 lakh MT. per annum against, which there is only about 15 lakh MTS installed capacity in the state. Adding that there was need to fill up the gap in demand and supply through innovative marketing strategies and brand promotion measures adding that under the Industrial Policy, the Corporation is entitled to get incentives for its brand promotion. He asked the corporation to  gear up for the meeting the stiff market competition in the private sector. He directed the representatives of the Power Department to ensure un-interrupted power supply to the cement plant of the JKCL so that its production is not effected due to unscheduled power cuts.
            The Minister asked the Finance Department to ensure implementation of the Cabinet Decision regarding purchase of cement by the Government departments from J&K Cements Limited. Mr. Slathia said that Govt. has already sent letter of appreciation to the Corporation for its outstanding performance. Adding that during the Cloud brust in Ladakh, it was this corporation which met all the requirement of cement.
            The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary, PDD,  Mr. Sudanshu Pandey, Commissioner/Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Mr. Shantmanu, Chairman, State Pollution Control Board, Mr. Lal Chand, Director General Budget, Mr. Ravi Magotra, representatives of Planning and Finance  Department, Director G&M, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Khan, M. D.  JKCL, Mr. R. K. Razdan, and concerned officers were present in the meeting.

Orientation programme for Kulgam Hajies on July 12
            KULGAM JULY 9: The orientation/training programme for the intending Haj pilgrims for Kulgam District will be conducted on July 12 at Jamia Masjid Ziarat Sharief here.
            The orientation programme will commence at 10:30 AM sharp. The State Haj Committee member Mr. Abdul Rashid Mir assisted by Nazir Ahmad Mir Master, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat and Molvi Atiqullah Shah would impart necessary training to Aazime-in-Haj at the selected venue. They will give all tidbits to the intending Haj pilgrims in the 1st. Phase comprehensive training programme.
            In this connection all the intending Haj pilgrims are informed to report at the venue as per the schedule.

Gul reviews development works of Id-Gah constituency
Asks officers to complete the work in a stipulated time frame 
SRINAGAR, JUNE 09- Advisor to Chief Minister Mr Mubark Gul today convened a meeting of Officers, Engineers of various departments here today and reviewed the developmental scenario of Iddgah constituency.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning, Joint Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Executive Engineers of City Drainage System, Srinagar Development Authority, Technical Officer of Tourism Department and Executive Engineer 3rd PDD.
Addressing the meeting Mr. Gul asked the concerned Officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Engineers to immediately install and improve the lighting system in Idgah, Mosques and Khankhas so that people do not face any inconvenience on this account. He said that sanitation problems faced by the people residing near the Idgah ground be mitigated on priority basis. Mr. Gul instructed the engineers to immediately start upgradation work of drainage system of these areas and completes it before the coming Idd festival. He stressed for immediate completions of the construction work for upgradation of community centre at Noorbagh, Alnoor and Baghwanpora areas.
The Advisor was apprised that Rs. 2.75 lakh has been earmarked for upgradation of drainage system in Idgah and the work will be started very soon. 
He was also apprised that lighting system in Mosque, Idgah, and Khankhas will be completed within stipulated time of 15 days.
