Rs. 1,10,000 drugs seized at Lakhanpur
JAMMU, JULY 06- The Enforcement Staff of Drug
& Food Control Organisation laid a naka at Lakhanpur Check Post to check
the consignment of medical preparation being imported into the State from
outside.
During the drive, several commercial
vehicles were checked to verify the genuineness of their consignments.
The team headed by Drug Inspector, Lakhanpur
seized a consignment containing drugs NICLOFEn inj., NITAXIM 500 inj. and
NEFZON 1000 inj, all manufactured by M/s Nitin Life sciences, Ponta Sahib,
Distt. Sirmour (H.P) which was found being transported in violation to the
conditions of the storage mentioned on the label there by violating Rule 96 of
the Drugs & Cosmetics Rule, 1945. The drugs were bound for M/s M.H.
Traders, Anantnag. The approximate value of the seized goods is estimated at
Rs. 1,10,000 (One lakh ten thousand).
Investigation in the matter shall follow and
appropriate action against the offenders shall be initiated within the
framework of the law. The operation was conducted under the overall supervision
of Lotika Khajuria, Dy. Controller Drug & Food, Jammu.
The action was particularly necessitated owing
to the prolonged transit period of consignment having been booked by the
consigner on 30.06.2012.
All the dealers and manufacturers are impressed
upon to strictly follow the mandate of law governing storage of drugs failing
which the potency of the drugs is bound to get altered rendering them
inefficacious.
