Fire & Emergency Services personnel awarded
            BARAMULLA, JULY 10: As many as 10 employees of Fire and Emergency Services were awarded commendation certificates (Class-II) and cash reward of Rs. 200/- each by Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range for their commitment, they rendered during operation in Bawan Village of Handwara tehsil in the intervening night of July 05 and 06, 2012.
            The awardees include Ab. Majid Bhat Sub Officer, Abdul Rashid Khan LFM 908, Gh. Mohi-ud-Din LFM 943, Harbachan Singh MD 49, Foja Singh MD 67, Nazir Ahmad Dar SG 1215, Altaf Ahmad Dar 1495 FM, Aijaz Ahmad Peer FM 1444, Shameem Ahmad Banday FM 1613 and Ghulam Jeelani Pandith FM 1653.

DIET Ganderbal organizes seminar
            GANDERBAL, JULY 10: A seminar on “Mathematics in Past, Present and Future” was organized by DIET Ganderbal in which students from different schools of district Ganderbal participated.
            Principal DIET, Mr. Ram Pal Bal graced the occasion with valuable tips. Mtr. Nusrat Amin (HOD CMDE wing) delivered the speech and all the staff members of the DIET Ganderbal assisted the Co-ordinator to make the programme successful.

2-free Legal Aid Clinics inaugurated in Sonawari
            SUMBAL (SONAWARI), JULY 10: Judicial Magistrate and the Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Sumbal, Mr. Imran Hussain Wani inaugurated two free Legal Aid Clinics at Andarkote and Asham Sonawari today. Officers from Revenue, Social Welfare, Rural Development, Municipal Committee and other departments accompanied the Chairman.
            While listening to some cases, the Chairman on the occasion said that besides normal court cases, grievances and problems of the people would also be addressed in these Clinics. He said that various people including poor and destitute have been benefited by way of establishing such clinics.

Two officials suspended in GHS, Seer Hamdan, Ang
            ANANTNAG, JULY 10: To ensure punctuality in Government offices and schools, the Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah today paid a surprise visit to Government High School, Seer Hamdan, Anantnag.
            During the surprise visit, two officials Headmaster Mr. Ghulam Hassan and Orderly Mr. Shahnawaz Ahmad Baba of the school were found un-authorizedly absent from their duties and were placed under suspension.

DC Sgr reviews proposed district plan for Srinagar
            SRINAGAR, JULY 10: Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Mr. Baseer Ahmad Khan today convened a meeting of district and sectoral level officers of district Srinagar and reviewed the progress registered during last financial year. He also reviewed the current year’s plan proposals.
            It was given out in the meeting that current year’s plan proposals have been formulated for an amount of Rs. 59.80 crores.
            The meeting was also informed that Rs. 47.32 crore were made available out of total plan of Rs. 55.65 crores against which 99 percent expenditure was made on the execution of various developmental works and implementation of welfare schemes.
            The officers present in meeting projected their demands which were discussed at length.

Gupta chairs Subordinate Legislation meeting of LA
            SRINAGAR, JULY 10:- A meeting on  Subordinate Legislation of Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held under the Chairmanship of MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta here today.
            Threadbare discussion was held on decreasing girl child sex ratio and other issues pertaining to Health & Medical Education departments.
            Legislators, Zahoor Ahmed Mir and Ch. Zulfikar Ali gave their valuable suggestions to improve the functioning of the committee.
            The Committee was informed that the J&K State has also introduced new initiatives by which any person who informs about the occurrence of sex determination tests, female foeticide at any place shall be given Rs. 50, 000/- as award under NRHM, besides stringent measures for the laboratories where such tests are being conducted shall be sealed . 
            The Committee stressed upon the members to organise seminar, rallies and debate for sensitizing to save the girl child at school level on regular basis to educate the prospectives  to the parents.
            The Committee described that girl child care under NRHM which is primarily focused on maternal and child health care, besides various initiatives have been taken to implement the PC&PNDT Act in the State and to generate awareness on this issue, targeting the fraternity, health care service providers and the general public.
            Commissioner Secretary Law, Mr. G.H. Tantray, Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Mr. M.K. Dwivedi, Director Health Services, Jammu and Srinagar, besides senior officers of the concerned departments and Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting.  

Puri Shankaracharaya calls on Dy CM

SRINAGAR, JULY 10: Jagat Guru of Puri Peeth Shiver, Swami Adhyokshjanand Ji Maharaj called on Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Tara Chand here today after having darshan of holy cave of Amarnathji.
Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements made by the Government en-route to holy cave of Shri Amarnathji for the convenience of the devotees, Swami said that communal harmony and brotherhood prevailing in the State is worth to imitate and model for the people of the country for the peaceful co- existence of the mankind.
The Swami had arrived in Jammu, along with 10 other members, on July 5 from Shree Adhya Shankaracharya Dharmotthan Sansad, Dawarika New Delhi. He proceeded for Pahalgam on July 6 and had darshan of Shivlingam at holy cave on July 8. On July 9, Swamiji Maharaj  reached Srinagar via Baltal.
Swamiji is scheduled to visit Shiv Khori temple at Jammu tomorrow. On July 12, he is also meeting the deputations at Jammu, and is scheduled to leave for New Delhi on the same day.

Referring to the issues of development and amenities in the towns she visited, Mehbooba urged the government to launch expansion and consolidation of health care in these places. Similarly sewerage and drainage system was almost non existent and needed immediate attention. She said drinking water and power supply had caused huge dislocation in daily life but the government had been unable to respond to these burning issues.
