AMK holds function on Fazil Kashmiri’s death anniversary

Srinagar, July 11:  Adabi Markaz Karmraz and Fazil Memorial Trust in collaboration with Radio Kashmir held a function today at the Radio Kashmir auditorium to mark the 8th death anniversary of renowned poet Fazil Kashmiri
Minister of State for Home Nasir Aslam Wani was Chief Guest on the occasion. The function was presided over by Prof Rehman Rahi whileas LD Mangloi Director General All India Radio and Additional DG AIR T.Dolker were also present on the occasion.
Nasir Aslam Wani, while speaking on the occasion, stressed the need for strengthening Kashmiri language. “My ministry shall provide every possible support to give the Kashmiri language its due space and place in the society”, he said.
“Scholars, Writers and Poets are pride of a nation”, Wani added.
While speaking on the occasion Dr Aziz Hajni appealed Director General AIR that Kashmiri programmes be broadcast form Jammu Radio Station arguing there is a large presence of Kashmiri speakers in the division.
Director Institute of Iqbalyat Kashmir University Taskeen Fazil read out a maqlal on Fazil Kashmiris poetry.
Prof Rehman Rahi also praised the contribution of Fazil Kashmiri towards Kashmiri literature. Others present on the occasion include Prof Margoob Banhali, Syed Zeeshan Fazil, Wali Mohammad Aseer, Bashir Manzar, Qazi Mohammad Amin, Farooq Nazki, Ghulam Nabi Aatish, Sultanul Haq Shaheedi, Rukhsana Jabeen, Syed Humayoun Kaiser, Nisar Naseem and Shamshad Kralwari. Kashmiris’ struggle not against the people of India:  Malik tells Shankracharya

Srinagar, July 11:  Famous religious leader and Puri Shankracharya Swami Adhook Sajanand Teerath Achraya today visited the Maisuma residence of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Yasin Malik. The two had a long cordial Meeting, said a JKLF statement issued here today.
According to the statement Yasin Malik and other JKLF leaders welcomed Shankar Acharya Jee.
While speaking on the occasion Swami Adhook Sajanand Teerath Achraya Puri Shankar Acharya Jee said that he always felt the pain of kashmiris in his heart. Shankar acharya jee said the pain, agony and miseries faced by the people of Kashmir always hurt him and should hurt every sensitive human heart and mind.
He said that anyone who discriminates between humans on the basis of religion, cast, colour, creed or thoughts is the enemy of humanity. Shankar Acharya Jee said that K”ashmiris are fighting for a just cause of their birth right and everyone who believes in truth and humanity should support Kashmiris”, the statement quoted him of saying.
“When Arjun refused to fight against his own cousins, Shri Bhagwan Krishan told him that in war relationship must not come in the way of justice. One should support truth even if his own relatives are on the receiving end. Shankar Acharya Jee said that it is a well established fact that in a war between truth and falsehood, truth has the last victory and kashmiris who are suffering for a just cause also should remember that the last victory should be theirs”, the statement further quoted him.
Shankar Acharya Jee while hailing the leadership of Yasin Malik invited him to this year “KUMB MAILA”,for reaching to the people of India, the statement added.
Welcoming Shankar Acharya Jee with the core of his heart chairman JKLF M Yasin Malik said that Shankar Acharya Jee as religious leader rules the hearts and minds of billions of Indians. “Kashmiris have always stood for communal harmony and have looked towards Swami Adhook Sajanand Teerath Achraya Puri Shankar Acharya Jee as a true leader of masses and one who stands for truth and humanity”, he added.
Recalling Swami Adhook Sajanand Teerath Achraya Puri Shankar Acharya Jees visit to Kashmir in 1997, Yasin Malik said that when Shankar Acharya Jee saw the sufferings of kashmiri people he was furious. He went to Calcutta and addressed a press conference there, raised his voice for Kashmiris and despite a lot of pressures refused to budge and stood for the just cause.
Yasin Malik expressed belief that Shankar Acharya Jee will use his good offices and mass contact with the people and put the peaceful struggle of Kashmiris in its right perspective to the people in India.

Engineer carries dogs to Civil Secretariat
Not a rural-urban issue: Er Rashid

Srinagar, July 11:  In an incident, first of its kind, MLA Langate Engineer Rashid today attempted to carry dogs from his constituency to civil secretariat Srinagar, as a mark of protest against the havoc wreaked by dogs and the government inaction. However, police foiled the attempt by stopping the load carrier trucks and seizing the dogs.
Earlier today, supporters of Engineer and some dog bite victims managed to collect many dogs and loaded them into three load carrier trucks from different Langate areas. However police managed to intercept the trucks while the dogs were being shifted to Srinagar.
Engineer succeeded in carrying three dogs to the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar today, however, police succeeded in seizing the car and seized the dogs before they could be released.
Many victims also accompanied Engineer at the civil secretariat here, who later lodged a protest against alleged government inaction over the chaos created by dogs in Langate area apart from other parts of the valley.
While speaking to VOS, the Engineer said,”My aim of such an action was to raise the issue of havoc created by dogs and wake up the government from deep slumber”. He demanded that the government takes early action against the menace of dogs in the whole valley. “This has got nothing to do with city or villages, this is a problem everywhere”, said Engineer adding some people were trying to portray the issue as ‘rural versus urban’.


3 militants held in Handwara

Srinagar, July 11:  Three Pakistani trained militants who had recently infiltrated back into Handwara were arrested today, said a police spokesperson.
A joint Naka was established by Srinagar Police and Handwara police at Kulangam, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara. During the checking at the Naka, three Pak trained militants who has recently infiltrated back after receiving arms training at Pakistan were apprehended, the statement said.
Police identified the arrested militants as Naseer Ahmad Qureshi alias Shah Baz son of Mohammad Amin resident of Hanga Handwara , Farooq Ahmad alias Abid son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Herpora Handwara and Mohammad Yousuf alias Khalid son of Abdul Aziz Bhat resident of Pringroo Mawar Handwara.
However, no arms were recovered from their possession.

Zafar, Nayeem pay tributes to 1931 martyrs

Srinagar, July 11:  Hurriyat leader and Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Zaffar Akbar Bhat has paid rich tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, urging the people to observe July 13 as day of reaffirmation of the pledge to take their mission to its logical end.
APHC leader Zaffar Akbar Bhat in a statement issued in Srinagar, while paying rich tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, said that the all Kashmiri martyrs including Maqbool Ellahi, Aijaz Ahmad Dar, Shamsul Haq have accomplished their job and now it is our responsibility to take their mission to it its logical end.
July 13, 1931, martyrs challenged the autocratic rule in Kashmir thereby laying the foundation of the freedom struggle, he said. The JKSM activists will remember all martyrs at all districts.
 He demanded immediate release of party activist Ghulam Mohiduin, Mohammad Ayoub Dar, Muzaffar Dar, Mohammad Ayoub MIR, Mohammad Yasin Yatoo, Misbah Nisar and Ghualm Qadir .

Meanwhile, calling for complete shutdown on 13 July in memory of Martyrs of 1931, Senior resistance Leader and National Front Chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan said that pro-India Politicians are responsible for the prolonged Slavery of Kashmiries.
In a statement Nayeem Ahmad Khan said that the pro-India Politicians have sold the blood of Martyrs of 1931 in New Delhi against power but still they use to visit the Martyrs graveyard in Naqashband Sahab every year to befool the Nation.
Khan said that Martyrs of 1931 and onwards have sacrificed their lives for a great cause and until that is achieved, the ongoing resistance movement will continue. He appealed the masses to always remember those who have sacrificed their today for our tomorrow. Khan while appealing the people said, “let us assemble at Naqashband Sahab in great numbers and renew our pledge for freedom once again”.
Nayeem Ahmad Khan said that the precious blood of Martyrs will show its color but the only condition is that we should show our steadfastness as always and have patience while facing atrocities and oppression.   
Meanwhile National Front Spokesman has said that Police cordoned the residence of NF Chairman Nayeem Ahmad Khan late Tuesday and put him under house arrest. Spokesman has strongly condemned the act saying that this shows the frustration and helplessness of the so called Government and administration. Spokesman said that National Front is of the opinion that curbs on the political activities will yield no results but only create a suffocated atmosphere.

PDP expresses deep shock over the tragic accident at Babareshi Gulmarg

Srinagar, July 11:  Peoples Democratic party (PDP) Patron and President have  expressed grief over the tragic road accident at Babareshi Gulmarg  road today in which three children were killed and about thirty were injured. The bus which met an accident was carrying school children from Iqra Educational Institute Kupwara to gulmarg for picnic.
Expressing deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives the two leaders conveyed sympathy to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in this tragic accident.
The two leaders urged for immediate relief and free medical facilities to the injured and asked the administration to take special measures to have a check on speedy vehicles particularly those carrying school children.
Among other leaders who expressed their shock and grief over the accident include Senior leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig, Molvi Iftikhar Ansari, General Secretary Mohd Dilawar Mir, Mohd Sartaj Madni MLA, Tariq Hameed Karra, Ab Haq Khan MLA,  Naeem Akhtar, Mohd Altaf Bukhari, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Mohd Ashraf Mir, A H Kosheen and others.
