Asks
people to approach PC for redressal
of grievances
SRINAGAR, JULY 09- Committee on Petitions (PC) of Legislative
Assembly on Monday asked the people to approach the Committee for redressal of
their grievances and other about public importance issues both individually and
collectively, however, the cases should not be sub judice. The Committee will
examine and entertain only such petitions who have been denied justice from the
concerned quarters.
The Committee, which met today under the Chairmanship MLA Mr. G.
A. Mir, here discussed overall working of the Petition Committee and held a
detailed discussion on the status of previous petitions received by the
Assembly Secretariat. The committee also deliberate upon the petition received
by the Assembly Secretariat of residents of Rose Lane Colony Chanapora
regarding drainage system. The Committee directed the officers of Assembly
Secretariat to obtain comments from Housing and Urban Development in this regard
within a week’s time. It was also decided that the committee will summon
Housing and Urban Development Department in its next meet in this pursuit.
Legislators, Advocate Abdul Haq and Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Shah gave
their suggestions to further improve the functioning of the Committee.
The Chairman of the Committee called for wide publicity of the
functioning of the Committee through print and electronic media so that general
masses are made aware about the benefits of the Committee.
Senior officers of Assembly Secretariat also attended the meeting.
One day awareness camp held
at HSS Dialgam
SRINAGAR, JULY 09: An awareness-cum-training camp was organized by
the department of Agriculture, Horticulture, District Rural Development Agency
(DRDA), DIC, KVIB, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, Handicrafts,
Handloom and Employment & Counselling Centre, Anantnag today at Government
Higher Secondary School, Dialgam, in which educated youth in particular and
people in general evinced keen interest.
The speakers from different departments threw light on employment generating
schemes and emphasized the need for setting up their own income generating
units to boost the economic condition of the un-employed educated youth.
The Chief Planning Officer, Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Tantray presided over the
function who explained the aim and objectives of the awareness camp.
Power shut down
SRINAGAR, JULY 09: According to Power Controller, Power Development Department,
Kashmir Province, Bemina, Srinagar, power supply to the areas fed from 33 KV
Baramulla II, Sheeri Chandoosa, Baramulla-Amargarh and SIDCO lines shall remain
affected on the July 10, 11, 16 and 17, 2012 respectively from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m
for carrying out branch cutting of trees in the concerned areas.
Meanwhile, in another communication from the PDD, power supply to the area fed
from 33 KV Nihalpora-HMT shall remain affected on July 11, 2012 from 9 a.m. to
6 p.m to carrying out necessary repairs near Railway Crossing Khore and branch
cutting of trees.
Constitute committees to
check Procurement of
pipes as per Govt. Specifications: PAC
SRINAGAR, JULY 09: Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of
Legislative Assembly on Monday directed the officers of Public Health
Engineering (PHE) department to constitute the departmental committees headed
by the Executive Engineer for periodical checking of the pipes procured by the
Department from time to time with the regard to the specification devised by
the Government so that quality material should be maintained.
The Committee, which met here under the Chairmanship of MLA Rafi
Ahmad Mir asked them that there should be surprise cross check by the team
which would be headed by not
less than the Chief Engineer rank.
Legislators, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Magray, Mr. Kafeel–ur- Rehman,
Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Syeed Bhasrat Ahmad Bukhari and Mr. Vikar Rasool Wani
gave their suggestions to improve the functioning of the PHE department.
Threadbare discussion was held on various audit Para’s
pertaining the PHE
department besides working of the department and it was decided that the
Committee will conduct on–the–spot inspection shortly to see the ground
position of those Water Supply Schemes on which CAG’s have raised some
objections in their Audit Report . The panel called for detailed report about
the audit Para within one and half month.
The Committee stressed upon the officers of the PHE Department
to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing projects and complete them in a
time frame so that the maximum people can get benefited from these facilities.
It also asked them for use of standard material and judicious Utilization of
Fund.
Detailed deliberations were held on various Water Supply Schemes
included Bhathandiya and Karan, the Chairman directed the PHE authorities to
send a team headed by the Superintendent Engineer (SE) and submit a detailed
report about all the defunct and delayed projects, if any, in Tanghdar
Constituency within a week s time for its examination.
Discussing the issue to provide adequate drinking water
facilities to Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims, the Committee directed the concerned to
ensure adequate drinking water facilities to the devotees and suggested for
formulation of separate scheme in this behalf so that the devotees may not
suffer for want of drinking water.
The meeting was informed that Rs. One core has been kept for the
purpose for Water Supply Schemes, Baltal to mitigate the problem faced by the
devotees during the yatra period.
The Committee stressed for streamlining the ground water system.
Among others, Principal Accountant General, J & K Dr. S. C.
Panday, Commissioner/Secretary, PHE Mr. B.D. Sharma, Director General, Accounts
and Treasuries Mr. Wali Mohammad Bhat, Chief Engineer, PHE Kashmir, Mr. G. R.
Zargar, Chief Engineers, PHE Jammu Mr. Bodh Raj Dogra and other officers and
engineers of PHE department besides senior officers of Assembly Secretariat
attended the meeting.
