Chib inaugurates Sheher-e-Khas T-20 Cricket Tournament
SRINAGAR, JULY 14: Minister for Medical Education,
youth Services and Sports Mr. R S Chib today inaugurated Sheher-e-Khas U-16
T-20 Cricket Tournament at Delhi Public School Ground, Srinagar.
The 9-day cricket tournament was organized by a local
Non-Government Organization All India Centre for Urban & Rural Development
(AICURD) in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council and army.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chib complimented the
organizers for organizing such tournaments at local level to exploit and groom
the talent of youngsters so that they can participate at national and
international levels. He hoped that the budding youth who are getting training
at initial stage of their age would become more competitive and bring laurels
to the state.
The Minister said the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is
keen for the promotion of sports in the state, adding that various projects
have been taken in hand for creation and upgradation of infrastructure under
the sports sector to provide standard facilities to the sports persons. He said
the government is working for the welfare of the youth of the state since its
inception.
As many as 8 teams from Sheher-e-Khas are
participating in the tournament. The inaugural match of the tournament was
played between Legend School Foundation and Standard Public High School teams.
Earlier, the Minister was introduced to the players.
Among others, GoC, 15 Corps Lieutenant General, Om
Parkash, Director, Youth Services and Sports S. Jaipal Singh, GoC, Sub Area,
Major General, P D Hallur, Colonel, Awasthi, Colonel, Alahwat, Chairperson,
AICURD Mrs. Rabia Baji, all ranks of army and sports lovers were present on the
occasion to witness the match.

Inculcate moral ethics among students: Ruhullah
SRINAGAR, JULY 14:- Minister for Information
Technology, Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi today stressed upon the teachers to
inculcate moral ethics among student community and provide rich knowledge about
great saints to them so that the students are groomed in a healthy and
sophisticated manner.
The minister was addressing an impressive function
organized in connection with ‘Youmi-Niswan’ by Government Girls Higher
Secondary School, Budgam today.
Mr. Ruhullah while throwing light on the facilities
available in the Government School in respect of qualified staff, lab equipment
and infrastructure, asked the teaching community of Government Schools to work
hard and secure high percentage of marks in primary, middle as well as in high
classes.
Referring to various demands raised by the school
management on the occasion which include macadamization of the path, school
fencing and construction of second floor on science laboratory for auditorium,
the Minister announced that macadamization of path in school will be taken up
shortly and other projects will be taken up with concerned authorities of the
government.
Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Budgam
Mr. Javed Ahmad Shah, Principal of the School Malik Nasir Ahmad and other staff
members of school were present on the occasion.
Power shut down
SRINAGAR,
JULY 14: According to Power Controller, Power Development Department,
Kashmir Province, power supply to the areas fed from 33 KV Alasteng-Master Plan
Tap, Manigam Tap and Ganda Singh Tulla Bagh lines shall remain affected on the
July 15, 16 and 17, 2012 respectively from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m for carrying out
branch cutting of trees in the concerned areas.
Hajj orientation programme held at Bandipora
BANDIPORA,
JULY 14: An orientation programme for intending Hajj Pilgrims was held at
Masjid Noor Bandipora today. During the programme, Mufti Nazir Ahmad of
Darul-Aloom Rahimia Bandipora imparted the training to the selected pilgrims
and made them aware about the fundamentals of Hajj and other disciplines.
Adequate arrangements were made by the district administration for smooth
conduct of the programme. As many as 187 persons have been selected for Hajj
2012 in Bandipora district.
On
this occasion, officers from District administration and the members of State
Hajj Committee besides selected pilgrims of Sonawari, Bandipora and Gurez
tehsils were present.
