Chib finalizes arrangements for holding

Chib today chaired a high level meeting of officers convened to finalize the
arrangements for the smooth conduct of goodwill football match between
Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC), Kolkata and J&K-11 on July 15, at Srinagar.
The event which is being organized by the
J&K State Sports Council in collaboration with J&K Football
Association, Department of Youth Services and Sports and Football Association
of India is likely to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The
Union Minister of State for Home Mr. Jitender Singh will preside at the
inaugural match.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chib said that one
more football match would be played between Mohamdan Sports Club, Calcutta and J&K-11
at Leh on July 18 at Leh. He said the main objective for organizing these
matches is to encourage the local football players of the State. He said the
event would provide an opportunity to the local footballers to play with the
ace players of international and national repute. He said a goodwill football
match would also be held at Jammu in the month of October, this year.
Mr. Chib said that Union Ministry of Youth
Affairs & Sports is providing funds for the creation and upgradation of
sports infrastructure in the state, adding it has already approved projects for
laying of Astroturf at TRC Grounds, Srinagar and hockey ground of Baramulla. He
said playfields at Government Gandhi Memorial College, Jammu and in Leh would
also be equipped with Astroturf facilities for the players, adding that it will
help in improving standard of football game in the State.
Later, the Minister inaugurated football match
at Bakshi Stadium which is being played between Punjab-11 and a local team. He
also inspected the office premises of Sports Council during the visit.

Council, Mr. Vinod Koul, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Mr. S M Sahai,
Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Mr. Baseer Khan, Director Information, Mr. Zaffar
Ahmad, Director, Youth Services and Sports S. Jaipal Singh, Secretary, J&K
State Sports Council, Mr. Daleep Thussu, SSP, Srinagar SMA Bukhari, President,
J&K Football Association, Mr. Thakur, Joint
Secretary, J&K State Sports Council Prof. Bashir Ahmad, Joint Director,
Youth Services and Sports Mr. Madan Lal besides senior officers of
Municipality, Tourism, Hospitality and Protocol departments attended the
meeting.

Launches SRTC website; www.jksrtc.co.in
JAMMU, JULY 06-Minister
for CAPD and Transport, Mr. Qamar Ali Akhoon, today launched State Road
Transport Corporation (SRTC) website www.jksrtc.co.in at summer secretariat.
MLC Ravinder Sharma, MLC Ch. Noor
Hussain, Director CAPD Mr. Parvez Malik, Managing Director, SRTC, Mr. J S
Tondon, Deputy Director Information, Mr. R S Jamwal, General Manager
Operations, Mr. S S Jamwal besides other senior officers of CAPD, SRTC and
Transport departments were present on the occasion.
The main objective of launching the
website is to make the transport system more advantageous and convenient to the
public, tourism, trade, industry and various other agencies besides to provide
an efficient and economic road transport service for the travelling public both
from within and outside the State besides on the interstate routes.
The website contains complete information
regarding citizen charter, Right to Information, Driving Training, Services
like Passenger, Cargo & others, objective of JKSRTC, Organization Chart,
etc.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister
appreciated the officers for creating an informative and pro-people website and
said that this will provide easy information to tourists and pilgrims who
throng Shri Vaishno devi ji and Shri Amarnath ji shrines besides other pilgrim
and tourist places across the State in lakhs of numbers every year. He said
through the website will facilitate the tourists with vital information about
the transport, hotel, accommodation, online booking besides time schedule of
buses including fare charges of passenger vehicles.
Mr. Akhoon informed that the
department has also opened a page for public grievances, complaints and
suggestions for JKSRTC to further streamline the functioning of the department
adding the website will also provide information about the functioning of
JKSRTC.
The Minister expressed satisfaction over
the performance of JKSRTC and hoped that the employees will continue to work
with dedication and devotion to further improve the functioning of the
Corporation. He also emphasized that the Corporation must continue its efforts
to provide safe and efficient bus services to the commuters and visitors. He
said that government has been formulating a plan to purchase new buses for
facilitating the commuters residing in hilly and far-off areas of the state.
