Governor reviews Yatra security arrangements
        SRINAGAR, JULY 8 – The Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, who is Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, held a short notice meeting, late last evening, with Mr. B. R. Sharma, Principal Secretary Home and Mr. K. Rajendra, Director General of Police, to review various matters relating to effective security related arrangements at the 6 major Camps where 35,000 - 45,000 pilgrims have been halting every day, enroute to the Holy Cave Shrine, in the past 13 days. Consequent to over an hour long discussions certain decisions were taken to enforce more disciplined conduct by the various service-providers.
          The Governor has asked the Principal Secretary Home, who is also the Chairman of the High Level Committee to visit all the major Camps along with the members of the Committee. It would be recalled that the High Level Committee, comprising the Principal Home Secretary, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary Planning and Principal Secretary to Governor, (who is also the CEO of the Shrine Board), was established after the Governor’s discussions with the Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah, and his concerned Cabinet Ministers, in October 2011, consequent to a review of the experience gained in Yatra 2011. Mr. Navin K. Choudhary, CEO of the Shrine Board, is the Convener of the High Level Committee. The Governor has asked Mr. B. R. Sharma to take on-site stock of the new/additional arrangements for the current Yatra and identify the gaps which would require to be filled for Yatra 2013.

Yatra deaths mounting – Governor convenes emergency meeting
           SRINAGAR, JULY 8 – Being gravely concerned about the increasing number of Yatris who are losing their lives in the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra, which commenced on 25 June 2012, the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, who is Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, has convened a short notice meeting tomorrow morning, the 9th July, to consider whatever measures as may be possible to reduce the large number of pilgrims who have died due to cardiac arrests in the past 13 days since the Yatra began.
          Tomorrow’s meeting shall be attended by Mr. Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for Health, Mr. M. K. Dwivedi, Secretary Health Department, Dr. Salim-ur-Rehman, Director Health (Kashmir Division), Mr. Navin K. Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer and Mr. P. P.  Singh, Additional CEO of the Shrine Board, and other concerned officers.  

CM condoles demise of Pir Rafiq Ahmed
                SRINAGAR, JULY 08:  Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed grief over the sad demise of Pir Rafiq Ahmed who passed away in a road accident yesterday morning.
            In a condolence message to the bereaved family, the Chief Minister conveyed his sympathies and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

Attention for selected Hajjis of Shopian District
 SRINAGAR, JULY 08:- The District Administration Shopian has arranged an orientation and training programme for the selected   Hajjis of 2012 of the District Shopian on July 10, 2012 at Jamia Masjid Shopian.
The Deputy Commissioner Shopian has informed that all the selected Hajjis to attend the program at Scheduled date and time.
