Shamima inaugurates female block in district Jail Baramulla
Hails the
department for female prisoners welfare
SRINAGAR, JULY 06: Chairperson, J&K State
Commission for Women, Mrs. Shamima Firdous, today inaugurated first of its kind
Female Prisoners Block in District Jail Baramulla. Director General of Prison
Mr. Navin Aggarwal, was present on the occasion.

Prisons Dr. Mohammad Sultan Lone, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Ghulam Ahmad
Khawaja, SSP Baramulla Anand Jain, SP Operation Baramulla Zubair Ahmad, I/C
Superintendent Jail of Baramulla Mr. A. K. Singh Salathia, and Commandant CRPF
53 Bn Mr. M.S Dhilon.
The female prisoners block at District Jail
Baramulla came up
at cost of Rs. 8 lakh consist of one prison Barrack , Kitchen, Female Warder room and Toilets 4 nos is equipped with all the facilities and can accommodate the lodgment of 20 female
prisoners. With the
inauguration of the
new female prison barrack in District Jail Baramulla, the female prisoners belonging to North Kashmir can be lodged there which shall speed up the judicial process in
disposing off the cases pending before the Hon’ble Court.
Mrs. Shamima appreciated the efforts of the
Prisons Department for initiating various steps for the welfare of female
prisoners and said commissioning of new female barrack is a big lead in this
direction. She expressed hope that the
Prisons Department shall
construct female
barracks in all
the jails of the
state and make
them operational as this shall help in the lodgment of female inmates in the areas where their judicial trials are pending in the
Hon’ble Courts for speeding up the judicial process.
DG Prisons, Mr. Navin Aggarwal gave detailed
resume of the activities undertaken by the Prisons Department for the welfare
of women prisoners and infants accompanying their mothers lodged in the various
jails of the State. He made
special mention of the functioning of the Crèche in Central Jail Jammu,
Kotbhalwal, which has been opened in association with NGO for the welfare of
the infants who are lodged with their mother prisoners in the jails. He also
mentioned that the Prisons Department is going to establish Correctional and
Reformation Institute at Mishriwala very shortly.

Prisons, Mr. Virender
Razdan welcomed the guests and gave resume of the constructional activities of
the Department.
HC seeks relevant records about the construction
of Toyota Structure
SRINAGAR, JULY 06: House Committee (HC) “to
ascertain the actual position regarding illegal encroachments of wet Lands for
its conversion for residential purposes in Srinagar, Baramulla and Bandipora
districts” of Legislative Assembly on Friday directed the Commissioner,
Srinagar Municipal Corporation(SMC) to depute an enforcement party of the
Corporation to Ansari Motors(TOYOTA) at Bemina By-Pass Srinagar and conduct on
the spot inspection and furnish detailed report before the Committee about the
structure whether it is made as per the permission issued by the concerned
quarters.
The Committee met under the Chairmanship of MLA
Mir Saifullah here today and sought detailed relevant records about the
construction of Ansari Motors (TOYOTA) and asked the concerned to furnish the
requisite information to the Assembly Secretariat for examination of the Committee.
Legislators, Mr. G.A. Mir, Mr. Nazir Ahmad
Gurezi, Mr. Ashok Kumar and Peerzada Mansoor Hussain gave their valuable
suggestions to improve the working of the Committee. The panel asked the
concerned to strictly adhere norms while issuing permission for construction of
the structures. It also cautioned them about violation of master plan.
Among others, Commissioner, SMC Mr. G. N. Qasba,
Joint Commissioner Planning, Mrs. Farzana Naqshbandi, Director Land Records
Kashmir Mr. Rashid Dar, S.P, Hqrs Mr. Ajaz Ahmad, officers from Revenue,
Police, Land Records, Wild Life, SMC, LAWDA and others concerned departments
besides senior officers from Assembly Secretariat also attended the meeting.
