Govt in a state of coma: PDP
Mehbooba visits Anantnag constituency
Srinagar, Nov 9 (VOS):Expressing deep anguish at the deteriorating position of power
supply PDP has said it was surprising that the power development department was
unable even to charge uniform tariff from the consumers of same category.
During
her day long tour of Islamabad (Anantnag) constituency the party president was
informed that electricity fee was charged at different rates from the consumers
and when she contacted top electric department officials they could provide no
explaination for this. In a statement here today Mehbooba said that this
government was blind to the problems faced by the people but it was taking a
more cruel turn every day for every body.
She
said on the one hand the government has been unable to fix the gas crisis and
on the other it has been depriving people of power supply which has now become
worst ever since 2003. She said given the climatic conditions of Kashmir and
ensuing winter people could face real threat to their lives in absence of any
fuel options.
She
said it was amazing that various departments under one administration had
apparently not even a working contact as is evident from the theatre of absurd
being enacted in the name of streamlining the gas supply. The police she said
had rightly refused to handle the sale of this essential commodity but the
government it seems has developed a habit of handing over all its problems to
men in uniform. “It seems the government which was paralysed for three years is
now in complete coma”, she said.
During
the visit to Anantnag Mehbooba went around various localities and
villages including T B Shah, Muniwara, Nowathoo, Hanji Danter, Mir Danter,
Bangidaar, Kamad, Wanihama, Pethdialgam, Kabamarg, Gund Fatehpora, Fatehpora,
Gundi Jaffar and Kuchipora .
She
urged the administration to immediately start work on some important road links
including Muniwara T B Shah Road, Schichen Dialgam Road and Danter road. She
also urged them to provide adequate supply of water supply to people of Danter,
Nowathoo and Kuchipora and Gund Fatehpora.

Permanent peace possible only with Kashmir solution: Mirwaiz
‘Hurriyat for peace
founded on justice, people’s rights’
Srinagar, Nov 9: Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz
Umar Farooq has said that the permanent peace in Kashmir will come only if the
Kashmir issue is solved. He said that incoming of lakhs of yatris and visitors
to Kashmir should not be misconstrued as the arrival of peace.
Mirwaiz made these remarks while
addressing the people at the main chowk Chadoora. He addressed people after he
offered prayers at the local Jamia Masjid.
Reacting to the statement of
Indian home minister, Sushil Kumar Shinde that hurriyat should help in bringing
peace in Jammu and Kashmir, Mirwaiz said that the hurriyat has always wanted
peace, but this “peace should be founded on justice and granting rights to
people”.
“Till the justice and rights
remain elusive, you cannot dream of peace,” Mirwaiz said while addressing the
mammoth gathering.
APHC chairman said that occupying
Kashmiri people by using seven lakh troops and then dreaming of peace was just
a futile exercise.
Terming the recent statement of
Indian defence minister as unrealistic and contrary to the existing facts on
the ground, Mirwaiz said those people who have imposed military occupation on
Kashmir, usurped the political rights of Kashmiri masses by invoking black
laws, are living cozily in their homes. He said that those people have no
bunkers outside their homes, nor they are living life under military
occupation, neither their children are called to police station ahead of Indian
republic day or Indian Independence day or on eid days.
Mirwaiz said that it was highly
regrettable that government of India was consistently changing it stance by
making different statements. He said that till GOI does not show a
realistic and serious attitude to address the issue, it can’t be expected that
there would be change in the existing situation or a creation of favorable
atmosphere which could lead to solve the vexed Kashmir dispute.
Categorically rejecting the
bilateral dialogue in connection with the Kashmir issue, Mirwaiz stressed that
India and Pakistan should make Kashmiris part of the negotiations. He said only
then steps could be taken to resolve the long pending dispute.
Referring to the re-election of
Barrack Obama as US president, Mirwaiz said during his first term, the US
president had talked about the Kashmir issue. He said afterwards for four long
years, he didn’t showed any keenness or interest in Kashmir issue. He said it
happened because the US interests were lying with the India. He said even if
the US president has talked about the economic progress in the region, but he
should know that economics and improvement in the political situation is all
connected with the Kashmir issue.
Mirwaiz said that APHC wants the
solution of Kashmir according to the aspirations of Kashmiri people. He said
that is why the APHC delegation would visit Kashmir and apprise the Pakistani
establishment about the emotions and aspirations of Kashmiri people.
APHC Chairman said that the
conglomerate has already presented five recommendations for creating a
conducive atmosphere which could lead to solution of Kashmir issue. He,
however, said GOI never implemented those recommendations. He said till GOI
does not show seriousness and brings a tangible change in its rigid attitude,
the situation would never improve as far as negotiations are concerned or improvement
in situation is concerned.
He said that on international
level, APHC would continue to represent Kashmiris on forums like European
Union, NAM, OIC etc.
Amid Pro-freedom slogans, APHC
Chairman made it clear that hurriyat would remain on its stand like a rock. He
said that apart from highlighting the Kashmir dispute, APHC would also
highlight the daily problems of people like shortage of power, water, LPG and
other essential commodities.
Separatists’
responsibility not to allow sacrifices go waste: Shabir Shah
Srinagar, Nov 9: Democratic Freedom Party Chairman Shabir
Ahmad Shah has said that it is the joint responsibility of the separatist
leadership in the valley not to allow the sacrifices to go waste in any manner.
“Kashmiri’s have offered numerous
sacrifices for their right to self-determination and separatist leadership
should give everything to that sacrifices so that the people should get what
they deserve, the right to self-determination,” he said.
Meanwhile shah was on Friday put
under house arrest and was not allowed to move towards Islamabad where he was
to address people after the Friday prayers.
He further said that there is no
alternative to the freedom for the valley as they have offered sacrifices only
for the sacred cause of freedom. “Like in other place of the world where the
United Nations have took an active part in addressing the freedom loving people
of the valley. It is the responsibility of the united Nations that they should
took part in the solution of the Kashmir issue according to the aspirations of
the people of the valley,” he said.
Our struggle is not for any
particular community on any basis but it is the question is the 1 crore and 30
lakh people who have offered sacrifices for that only cause. Hurriyat should
reach to the grass roots level and need what problems people are facing.
“Unless the Hurriyat leaders will reach people at the grass roots level how
come they know the problems of the people,” he said.

"CBI arrests a Srinagar businessman"
ReplyDeleteAppropos your news item on the subject this is to inform you that the basic story is different :The case is fundamentally registered against State Bank of India officer who had granted the loan facilities over and above their powers. Curiously the case was registered in July this year and it is alleged as was revealed during the discussions on the bail application of the loanee that he had refused to oblige a CBI Officer to pay Rs 3.5 lac as bribe to exclude his name from the case. The accused on Thursdayu was seen shouting from the top of his voice in Hon'ble CJM's court that he was being framed only because of his refusal to pay a bribe of Rs 3.50 lacs to one of the CBI sleuths who had reportedly told him that the money was required to be paid to the then SP CBI Srinagar to drop his name from the case FIR. This aspect of the story was not covered by the so called wire agency that worked at the behest of CBI Investigating officer who appears to have elected to go for selective leaking of the development. It is a tutored piece of news. Any journalist of superior officers of CBI can prove this by calling for tapes of tele communication between Mr Shabir Malik of KNS and the Investigating Officer of CBI on the day of arrest of Mr Manzoor. Some questions that arise are 1. Why where the main accused officers of SBI not arrested where as a non accused was picked up for questioning? 2. Why did not KNS report as to what had happened in the CJM's court when Mr Manzoor was produced in the said court for seeking remand. 3. why doid CBI produce him in CJM's court instead of the designated court for CBI cases i.e Court of Judge Anti Corruption Court Srinagar where the arrested person had moved an aplication for bail even as the agency procured orders for serach atr the premises of the arrested?. This is not journalism but agency journalism-Yellow journalism. Now that the man is out on bail some conscxientious journalist should have 1st hand information from him to set the records straight. Will you do it M/S Journalists of Kashmir
