Rather, Slathia meet former Interlocutors
SRINAGAR,
AUGUST 31: A delegation of National Conference lead by the Minister for Finance
and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather today met Mr. Dalip Padgaonkar and
Ms Radha Kumar, formerly Centre’s interlocutors on Kashmir and held a wide
ranging discussion on issues related to the recommendations made in their
report, which was presented to the then Union Home Minister last year.
Other
members of the delegation included the Minister for Industries and Commerce Mr.
S. S. Slathia, former Minister Ch. Mohammad Ramzan, former Member Parliament
Mr. Abdul Rashid Shaheen and Tanveer Sadiq.
The
interlocutors reached Srinagar, the summer capital of J&K, on Monday 27th August for obtaining inputs about their report from various
political parties and representatives of different shades of opinion.
Rs 62.04
cr disbursed to promote entrepreneurship in Kulgam in Q1
DC for
hassle-free credit disbursement to entrepreneurs
KULGAM,
AUGUST 31: The financial institutions have disbursed an amount 62.04 crores to
different entrepreneurs for setting up their income generating units in Kulgam
during the first quarter of the current fiscal, benefiting nearly 4 thousand
unemployed youth of the district.
The
information was revealed at a meeting of District Level Review Committee (DLRC)
meeting, held here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Mir Jahangir.
It was
given out that an amount of Rs.54.81 Crores was invested in priority sectors
including Agricultural, Small Enterprises, etc. As many as 3,623 prospective
entrepreneurs stand benefitted with the amount. In non- priority sectors an
amount of Rs.7.23 crores in the shape of capital has been invested to provide
handholding support to 345 entrepreneurs during the period, the meeting was
told.
The
meeting which was attended by bankers and sectoral heads stressed the need to
bring more and more deserving and technical youth within the ambit of potential
self- employment schemes operating in the state to tide over the unemployment
crisis.
In his
speech, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the need to provide hassle- free
credit facilities to the enterprising youth, saying that self- employment
schemes need to be implemented with a missionary spirit to address
un-employment problem. For the purpose both line department and bankers must
work in perfect synergy, he maintained.
The
Deputy Commissioner said that Government has launched several innovative self-
employment schemes with attractive incentives to motivate youth to take to
entrepreneurship for boosting economy and state domestic product.
Effective
monitoring and supervision imperative
for better traffic management: DGP
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 31: Stressing for an effective monitoring and
supervision to improve the traffic management in the State, the Director
General of Police (DGP), Mr. Ashok Prasad has asked the officers to ensure
enforcement of traffic rules for regulation of smooth traffic and road safety.
Mr.
Prasad was addressing a meeting of police officers at Traffic Police
Headquarters here today. The meeting was convened to take stock of the
traffic management and its implementation in the State. He said that during the
recent past, flow of surface traffic has been on alarming rise which has
doubled the responsibilities of police to regulate the traffic effectively. He
said that dedication among the personnel is imperative to bring a visible
change in the system and the traffic personnel can play an important role by
the dint of their hard work and dedication in strengthening the image of the
force. A patient behaviour of the “men in uniform” can change the mindset of
the people to follow the rules strictly, he disclosed.
Referring
to the achievements of JKP on various fronts, the DGP said that traffic
management has become a new challenge for the Organization and needs to be
focussed on priority. In order to bring awareness among commuters, transporters
and the drivers for makeing aware about the traffic rules by organizing camps
at different locations including the educational institutions is must. Parents
have also an important role to play in educating their children about the
disadvantages of violations of traffic rules, the DGP added.
Mr.
Prasad emphasised that lapses and lacunas needs to be identified to rectify and
bring necessary improvement in the system. He said
that while making the decisions long term impact should be kept in mind.
Introduction of traffic rules in the present training syllabus could serve as a
tool in making the traffic personnel more effective in dealing the challenges,
for which all the Police Training Institutions would be activated, said the
DGP.
The
meeting also discussed traffic management in the cities during the peak hours
and it was told that alternate routes are adopted to avoid traffic jams, which
cause inconvenience to the commuters and the general public. The DGP asked the
officers to work out the requirements for providing better traffic management
across the State including national highways.
The
Inspector General of Police, Mr. Munir Ahmed Khan apprised the meeting by a
power point presentation about the functioning of traffic police. He said that
efficient measures have been taken to curb visible offences and ensure road
safety. He said that after identifying the accident prone points, necessary
steps have been taken to bring improvement in road designing and saving the
human lives. Static posts have been established all along the national highway
to supervise the implementation of traffic rules. General public are kept
apprised about the traffic arrangements on special occasions through print and
electronic media, he added.
During
his power point presentation, the IGP said that coordination among different
agencies and departments could help in avoiding road accidents. He said that
good road geometry, adherence to traffic rules and removal of road blockades
could make the roads safer. He said that various measures have been taken by
the traffic police to regulate the surface traffic efficiently. The working of
the wing has been divided into different units including rural, urban and
national highway.
Earlier,
the DGP took a durbar of jawans and officers of traffic police at Traffic
Police Lines to listen their problems and make remedial measures. Various
jawans and officers put forth their problems and the DGP after hearing them
patiently discussed with the senior officers to find out the redressal. He
assured that all measures would be taken to address the genuine problems of the
personnel and for the welfare of cops.

others, the meeting was attended by ADGP (Headquarters), Mr. S. P. Vaid, DIG
(Traffic) Kashmir, Mr. Shafakat Ali Watali, DIG, Mr. Satish Khandare, SP Traffic, Mr. Hassib-u-Rehman, SP Traffic
(Rural), Mr. Manzoor Ahmed Dalal, Dy: Director Prosecution (Traffic Hqrs),
Mufti Javaid Ahmed Farooqi and other police officers.
Rs.
27,500 realized from erring shopkeepers in Pulwama
PULWAMA, AUGUST 31: Rs. 27,500 were realized as fine by Legal Metrology
Department, Pulwama while checking different provision stores, kiryana shops,
sweet shops and brick kilns besides fruit marts in the district for violation
of Jammu and Kashmir Standard of Weight and Measures (Enforcement) Act, 1997
and Packaged Commodity Rules.
During the inspection, two brick kiln owners, one dry fruit seller and one
baker besides 7 kiryana shopkeepers were fined.
According to Assistant Controller, Legal Metrology Department, Pulwama, all the
traders have been directed to use standard and verified weights and measures
and to sell packaged commodities with adequate levelling displaying rate,
weight, date of manufacture, expiry date and packer alongwith the consumer help
line number.
Any violation in this behalf shall be dealt strictly and action be initiated
under rules.
200
innovative models displayed during Science exhibition at DIET, Shopian
SHOPIAN, AUGUST 31: As many as 200 innovative science models were displayed
during 2-day Inspire award Science Exhibition at District Institute of
Education and Trainings (DIET), Shopian today.
The science exhibition was organized by DIET Shopian in collaboration with
Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Deputy Commissioner, Shopian, Mr. Mohammad Javaid who inaugurated the exhibition
appreciated the innovative displays in the exhibition. He impressed upon the
officers of Education department to organize such programmes at Zonal level to
explore the talent of the students.
Among others, Chief Education Officer, Shopian, Zonal Education Officers,
DRG’s, Zonal Resource Persons and teachers from different zones participated in
the programme and spoke on the importance of conducting such programmes at
district level for developing scientific attitude among the students.
As many as 10 models were selected to be presented at State level science
exhibition.

realized as fine from 17 smokers
SRINAGAR, AUGUST 31: To make Srinagar city smoke free, anti-tobacco squad
Srinagar fined 17 persons found smoking in public places.
An amount of Rs. 3,250/- fine was recovered from them
The inspection squad comprised of Food Safety Officer, officials from Health
and Police Departments, who also inspected various health and educational
institutions to curb the menace of smoking in municipal limits of Srinagar.
Employment
Fair being held in Gurez on Sept 8 & 9
BANDIPORA, AUGUST 31: According to Assistant Director Employment,
Bandipora, 2-day Employment Fair is being organized at Gurez Chowk on September
08 and 09, 2012 during which unemployed youth would be motivated and inspired
towards Self Employment Schemes. Besides, general awareness about various
government schemes and plans would also be given to them.
The registration of desirous unemployed youth for undertaking self employment
units would be made on the spot.
A number of stalls shall also be displayed by various departments and financial
institutions during the Employment Fair.
36
employees placed under suspension in Anantnag
ANANTNAG, AUGUST 31: To ensure punctuality and regularity in Government
offices, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mr. G.M. Dar inspected
various offices of Anantnag district here today.
As many as 36 employees of various offices including 12 from Chief Education
Office, 6 from District Programme Office ICDS, 4 from Assistant Director
Handloom office, 9 from District Industries Centre, 3 from Assistant Regional
Transport Office, besides one from District Social Welfare Office were found
un-authorizedly absent from their duty.
All the absentees have been placed under suspension with immediate effect and
the concerned Drawing and Disbursing Officers have been asked to charge sheet
the suspendees.
Digitization, computerization of land records: CS for
optimum use of technology
JAMMU, AUGUST 31- Reviewing the progress on
computerization of land records in Jammu division, Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal
today emphasized the need of developing state’s expertise in IT applications to
extend an enhanced public delivery system with added accountability and
responsiveness to the people.
“Management and development of land is a vital
component in implementation and success of any project so it needs to be
tackled with utmost efficiency and expertise”, the CS maintained.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Mr Pardeep Gupta, VC
JDA, Mrs Sarita Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Mr Sanjeev Verma,
Settlement Officer, Rajinder Jamwal, Principal RTI, Kusum Badyal and Deputy
Director Information (PR) Jammu, Mrs Jyoti Salathia attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that out of 500
villages in the Jammu Division, 143 have been computerized in respect of
settlement works. The CS asked for computerizing the remaining villages on fast
track basis besides initiating online service in the computerized 143 villages
for easy access of revenue records to the general public.
To make the process more effective and result
oriented, the CS asked the officers to keep in regular liaison with NICs of
other states. He also stressed the need for imparting necessary training to the
concerned officers and officials.
Deliberating upon various issues related to
further streamlining of digitization process, the CS stressed upon the need of
adopting short term targets with full achievements besides ensuring
institutional arrangements for better results.
Madhav Lal asked the VC JDA to visit the National
Remote Sensing Centre, Hyderabad along with the concerned staff so that the
computerization process can be further geared up.
The Chief Secretary also exhorted upon the
Revenue Training Institute to acquaint its staff with latest technology in the
field so that excellence is achieved and the delivery of public services
enhanced.
Later, the VC, JDA briefed the CS
about the progress of revision of Jammu Master Plan.
Shaheed
football tournament kick starts at Eidgah
SRINAGAR
AUGUST 31: Exhibition match of Shaheed football tournament was played between
SRTC and Chinar Valley Sports Gonderpora at historical football ground Eidgah
here today, which ended in drawn. Both the teams played well and brought back
the glory of the game in the area. The tournament has been organized by Chinar
Valley Sports, Gonderpora.
A
large number of people and sports lovers from surroundings of Edigah witnessed
the match and appreciated the efforts of the Organization for conducting the
tournament.
The
tournament was aimed to promote sports activities in the area besides keeping
youth away from social evils. Seeking Government support for promotion of
sports activities in the area, the organizers would work to revive fully the
football game they said, Eidgah has its own history and has produced veteran
footballers in the State. They appealed Government to come forward and develop
fully the piece of land identified for the football ground.
The first
match of the tournament will be played on Sunday September 2,2012 for which all
the arrangements stands finalized.

Seminar on Friendship with Neighbouring countries
SRINAGAR,
AUGUST 31: A Seminar on “Friendship with neighboring countries for Peace,
Progress & Prosperity” was organised by Gandhi Global Family (GGF), today
at Conference Hall, Youth Hostel, Srinagar in which a large number of
participants from all the parts of the State participated.
In
the first session an impressive technical presentation of employment avenues in
the field of Aromatic & Medicinal plants in J&K was presented by
eminent scientists, Dr. Parvaiz Qazi and Dr. Sultan from Indian Institute of
Integrative Medicine, Sanat Nagar, Srinagar followed by healthy interaction
between IIIM scientists and participants.
Second
session was chaired by Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services &
Sports, Dr. R.S. Chib with Member Legislative Assembly, Kulgam, Mr. M.Y.
Tarigami and Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Mr. Farooq Ahmed
Renzu as Guest of Honour.
Speaking
on the occasion, the Minister said that all these three components are
inter-related as development and progress depends on peace, providing avenues
for employment is necessary for sustainability of peace in the region, he said.
He
lauded the role of GGF under its National President and Union Minister for
Health, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad. Mr. M.Y. Tarigami deliberating on the subject
said every human longs for peace as its values are eternal, India & Pakistan
should come close as people of both the countries need progress at this crucial
stage. He recalled his close association with noted Gandhian Didi Nirmala
Deshpande and said Didi remains a great inspiration for him.
Speaking
on the issue, Mr. Farooq Renzu said a good swimmer always swims by the tide and
succeeds, lack of economic initiatives derail lasting peace & prosperity so
we all should work in this direction.
Speaking
on the subject, Padma Shree, S P Varma, President GGF, J&K State said,
there are no enemies, we all are brothers, chullas can be separate but we
belong to the same family. He stressed on forging better understanding and
friendship among all the stakeholders. “We cannot dream of miracles but if
small initiatives are taken, sustainable peace, progress & prosperity can
be achieved” he said.

among others who spoke on the occasion include G A Mir, Col. (Retd.) S S Chib,
Tasleema ji, Shabir Ahmed Bhat, Wajida Tabassum, Farooq Ganderbali, Ashok Arora,
