Indian Airlines to operate direct Hajj flights from Srinagar
            SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11 – Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah’s sustained efforts to make Hajj operation hassle-free from the State by operating direct Hajj flights from Srinagar has yielded favourable result for the Hajj pilgrims and Indian Airlines is operating flights from Srinagar to Saudi Arabia directly for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
            Chairing the Hajj Committee meeting here Tuesday afternoon, Omar Abdullah who is also Chairman of the J&K State Hajj Committee said that the direct operations of Hajj flights by the Indian Airlines would make the pilgrimage smooth and relieve the intending Hajj pilgrims of the burden of transshipment from one aircraft to another.
            The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Hajj, Ajaz Ahmad Khan, Legislator Jahangir Mir, former Minister Nissar Ahmad Khan and other Members of the Hajj Committee besides Principal Secretary Planning and Development B. B. Vyas, Divisional Commissioner, Asgar Samoon, Commissioner Secretary Hajj and Auqaf, Bashir Ahmad Runiyal, Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar and Budgam, IG traffic, Director Srinagar Airport and other senior officers.
            Asking the Hajj Committee to put in place all efforts in providing best possible facilities to the Hajj pilgrims, Omar Abdullah said that every care should be taken for their accommodation, stay at Hajj House, immigration and custom clearance, etc. He directed the Hajj Committee to publish a guide book for the pilgrims indicating details of the facilities, emergency service, enquiry and related issues that would prove helpful to them in Saudi Arabia during the performance of the Hajj. He said this guide book should be provided to all the Hajj pilgrims. He also directed for providing SIM Cards as introduced during Hajj-2011 to Khudam-ul-Hujaj so that they could be contacted by the pilgrims in the hour of need.
            It was stated in the meeting that highest number of over 9100 Aazmeen-e-Hajj would be performing Hajj-2012 as the Hajj quota for the State has been increased from last year’s 8441 to 8670 this year which is highest in last four years. In addition to this Private Hajj Operators are facilitating 500 intending Hajj pilgrims.
            The Hajj Committee expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for making possible direct Hajj flights from Srinagar and helping enhancement of the Hajj quota for Jammu and Kashmir. The Members of the Hajj Committee also expressed satisfaction over the arrangements put in place by the government last year for Hajj pilgrimage.
            In a PowerPoint presentation Commissioner Secretary Hajj and Auqaf, B. A. Runiyal gave details of the arrangements and preparedness for Hajj-2012. He said that the first Hajj flight will be from 17th of September this year and each day 270 Aazmeen-e-Hajj will be carried from Srinagar to Saudi Arabia. He said one flight is scheduled for one day. However, he added that two Hajj flights would be operated for eight days.
            Presenting brief about the preparedness and operational schedule of Indian Airlines, the authorities of the Airlines said that Hajj flights will commence at Srinagar and land at Sharjah for refueling wher from these will fly to Madinah Munawar.
            Minister of State for Hajj, Ajaz Ahmad Khan informed the meeting that the return of Hajjis from Saudi Arabia has been arranged under first schedule to save the hardships that may occur due to whether vagaries during winter months.
            Wishing for successful Hajj-2012, the Chief Minister expressed the hope that the facilities to be provided to Hajj pilgrims would be better than last year.

Vacation calendar for Degree Colleges of summer Zone re-scheduled
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11: As per Higher Education Department’s order, the Government has rescheduled the vacation calendar for the Degree Colleges located in summer zone of the State.
As per the new timing all the Degree Colleges shall observe 45 days summer vacation from 1st June to 15th July and 10 days winter break from 26thDecember to 4th of January. Besides the Colleges shall also observe 3 days holidays on account of Diwali i. e 1 day before and 2 days after Diwali and likewise on account of Holi, the Colleges shall also observe holiday 2 days preceding the date of Holi, the communiqué has said.

Symposium on ‘Save the Girl Child’ held at GGHSS Sonwar
            SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11:   A Symposium on ‘’ Save the Girl Child’’ was organised at government girls higher secondary school Sonwar in collaboration with National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Kashmir.
            The Chief Education officer Srinagar was the chief Guest on the occasion.
            The Students of this Institute namely Ayesha Latief, Nida Nek, and Bisma Altaf were adjudged Ist, 2nd and third respectively.
            The Chief Guest also distributed the participation certificates and refreshment charges among the students who took part in the Independence Day ceremony of this year held at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar.

            SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11: Director General of Prisons, J&K, Mr. Navin  Agarwal,  today   issued orders for promotions of 03  Selection Grade Warders to the rank of Headwarders and 05 Warders to the rank of Selection Grade Warders. Bashir Ahmed Kuchay, Mohammad Ashfaq Khan and Bashir Ahmad Dar have been promoted (Head Warders). Whileas Mohd Ashraf Daing, Abdul Qayoom Ganie, Javid Iqbal Malik, Farooq Ahmad Katoch and Javid Iqbal Khan promoted as selction grade Warders (SGW).
            Director General of Prisons congratulated  newly promoted officials and desired that they shall continue to work with sincerity and dedication which they have displayed so far.

Attention Hajj pilgrims  
            BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 11: According to Chief Medical Officer, Budgam, the vacation programme for the Hajj pilgrims of district Budgam has been framed. In this connection, the Hajj pilgrims belonging Khag Tehsil would be vaccinated at Sub-District Hospital, Khag on September 13, 2012 while as the Hajj pilgrims belonging to Chrar-i-Sharief will be vaccinated at Sub-District Hospital, Chrar-i-Sharief on September 14, 2012 and the Hajj pilgrims belonging to Khansahib Tehsil would be vaccinated at Sub-District Hospital, Khansahib on September 15, 2012. Similarly, the Hajj pilgrims of Chadoora Tehsil will be vaccinated on September 17, 2012 at Sub-District Hospital, Chadoora whileas the Hajj pilgrims belonging to Budgam Tehsil would be vaccinated on September 19, 2012 at Chief Medical Office, Budgam from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. respectively.
            PULWAMA: According to Chief Medical Officer, Pulwama, the vaccination programme for Hajj pilgrims belonging to Pulwama district has been framed.
            In this regard, the Hajj pilgrims of Pulwama would be vaccinated at Old Hospital Complex, Pulwama while as the Hajj pilgrims of Pampore will be vaccinated at Sub-District Hospital, Pampore. In addition the Hajj pilgrims of Tral would be vaccinated at Sub-District Hospital, Tral and Hajj pilgrims of Awantipora would be vaccinated at Primary Health Centre, Awantipora on September 13 and 14, 2012 (Thursday and Friday) respectively.      
            ANANTNAG: According to Chief Medical Officer, Anantnag, the vaccination programme for intending Hajj pilgrims of 2012 of Anantnag district has been chalked out.
            The Hajj pilgrims of Dooru Tehsil would be vaccinated at Sub-District Hospital, Dooru on September 13, 2012, the Hajj pilgrims of Kokernag Tehsil would be vaccinated at Sub-District Hospital, Kokernag on September 13, 2012, while as the Hajj pilgrims of Shangus and Pahalgam Tehsil will be vaccinated at Sub-District Hospital, Shangus and Primary Health Centre, Aishmuqam September 14, 2012 respectively, where as the Hajj pilgrims belonging to Bijbehara Tehsil at Sub-District Hospital, Bijbehara would be vaccinated at Sub-District Hospital, Bijbehara on September 15, 2012 and the Hajj pilgrims of Anantnag Tehsil would be vaccinated at DTC, Anantnag on September 16 to 20, 2012.
            KULGAM: According to Chief Medical Officer, Kulgam, the vaccination for the intending Hajj pilgrims 2012 has been framed.
            The Hajj pilgrims of Block D.H.Pora at Sub-District Hospital, D.H.Pora would be vaccinated on September 14, 2012, the Hajj pilgrims for Block Qazigund would be vaccinated at Primary Health Centre, Devsar on September 15, 2012 while as Block Qaimoh will be vaccinated at Primary Health Centre, Qaimoh on September 16, 2012. The Hajj pilgrims of Block Yaripora would be vaccinated at Sub-District Hospital, Yaripora on September 17, 2012 and for Hajj pilgrims of Kulgam block would be vaccinated at Chief Medical Office, Kulgam on September 18, 2012.

Power shut down on Sept 12, Sept 13
            SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11: According to Power Controller, Power Development Department, Kashmir, in order to carry out necessary repairs, power supply to the areas fed from 33 KV Wanpoh-Ashajipora-Malaknag shall be affected on September 12, 2012 from 09 a.m. to 5 p.m.
            According to another communication from PDD, in order to carry out branch cutting of trees in the corridor of Transmission Line, power supply to the areas fed from 132 KV Awantipora-Lassipora Transmission Line shall be affected on September 13, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the shutdown period a load of about 40 MWs shall remain off.

One day technical workshop on National Knowledge Network held at KU
                SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11: National Informatics Centre J&K (Govt of India) in collaboration with Information Technology and SS department organized 8th one day technical workshop on National Knowledge Network (NKN) at University of Kashmir, Hazratbal today.
Principal Scientific Advisor, Government of India and Chairman High level Committee NKN, Dr. R. Chidambaram was the Chief Guest  on the occasion while as Dean Academics Affairs, Kashmir University Prof A. M. Shah was Guest of honour.
            Dr. R. Chidambaram in his address said that NKN has connected 860 institutions and has set a target to connect over 1500 institutions under various categories throughout the country.
He said the target users for NKN are the institutes engaged in generation and dissemination of knowledge on various areas such as research labs, universities and other institutions of higher learning. “Going forward, it shall enable scientists, researchers and students from varied backgrounds and geographers to work closely” he asserted.
            Earlier, State Informatics Officer, NIC J&K Abhay Kumar in his welcome address said that NKN is a smart ultra-high bandwidth network which seamlessly interconnects the leading scientific and technological institutions across varied geographical areas. He said NKN also aims to facilitate education in emerging high technology areas like bio and nano technology, cloud computing, collaboration research for climate modeling.
            He said NKN is a pan-India ultra high e-governance network for the knowledge sharing among the institutions.

Sakina chairs Board of Directors meeting
Approves Rs. 13.25 cr action plan
            SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11:  The Board of Director for SC, ST and Backward classes Development Corporation Limited today under the Chairmanship of Minister for Social Welfare Miss. Sakina Itoo approved Rs, 13.25 crore action plan for the year 2012-13.
            The Board while deliberating on various issues agreed to enhance the subsidy component for backward classes and Bank Type schemes from Rs. 3000/-to 10000/- .The Board also decided to enhance the loan component under education loan scheme for the target groups to the tune of Rs.10lacs within country and Rs20 lacs abroad in professional courses. Earlier the Minister revised the annual performance of the Board of Director and the targets achieved during the financial year 2011-12.
            The meeting was attended by Managing Director, J&K, SC, ST/ BC, DCB. Mr. Ghulam Rasool Khan, Director Budget , Dr. Ishaq Wani , Special Secretary Planning Mr. M. H. Malik Director SW, Kashmir , Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat Director Social welfare Jammu Mr. M. H. Bhatti additional secretary, SWD, Mr. B. A. Wani and Dr. G. N. Itoo, OSD with Minister for Social welfare.
            It was  informed that target of 21,00 beneficiaries under direct financing and Bank tie up schemes has been fixed and 1000 beneficiaries under skill training programme was approved under action plan.
            The meeting discussed various issues regarding the welfare schemes launched by the sais corporation for the welfare of SC, Handicapped, Safia Krmachari and other ST/ backward classes under Direct Financing schemes and bank tie up schemes, It was told that during the last financial year Rs. 4.90 crores loans was advanced to 330 beneficiaries under direct financing whileas 556 beneficiary were provided bank loan up to the of Rs. 1.95 crore and subsidy to the tune of Rs. 0.43 crore.
             It was also told the meeting that Rs 5.37 crore has been recovered from the loans during the last financial years.
            Later addressing the Board members the Minister stressed upon the corporation to synergise their efforts to improve the percentage of the recovery component under direct financial schemes of Apex Corporation which should be above 75% Miss, Sakina Itoo asked the corporation to improve the performance both under direct financing and bank tie up schemes.
            The Minister also directed the Members to disseminate necessary information about the various welfare schemes launched by the state corporation in the interest and upliftment of weaker sections and thrust should be given for the maximum coverage of target groups at block and district levels.

2 players of State selected for International Football Tennis championship
            SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11: Advisor to Chief Minister Mr. Mubarak Gul presided a meeting of office bearer of J&K Football Tennis Association here today and discussed the matter regarding participation of two eminent players from the State in the forthcoming International football tennis championship to be held in Croatia from December 27 this year.
            The meeting was informed that selection of third players is under active consideration of the association.
Interacting with office bearers of the association, Mr. Gul said that camp of J&K State players for participation in National Championships will be held at Hyderabad from 17th October this year, similar camp will be held at Srinagar from 1st October to 7th October 2012 during which selection will be made for international championship.
He further said that from 2013, J&K open football tennis international championship will be held on regular annual basis, in which various international teams shall be, invited which include Turkey, Korea, Croatia, Spain, New Zealand and Bangladesh.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Manjoor Ahmed Joint Secretary Mr. Raja Javid Khan, technical Director and Mr. R.G. N wani president of the association and Mr. Zargar Mansoor convener. 

Hindi Kashmiri Sangam deputation meets Governor
        SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11 – Prof. Chaman Lal Sapru, President and Dr. Beena Budki, Secretary, Hindi Kashmiri Sangam, called on Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here this evening and briefed him about the activities of the organization.
          Prof. Sapru and Dr. Budki informed the Governor about the ongoing 8-day Hindi Writers Camp jointly organized by the Central Hindi Directorate, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, and the Hindi Kashmiri Sangam at Srinagar, with a view to training budding writers from different States of the country in the art of translating the literature of various languages into Hindi, to promote the growth of languages.
          Prof. Sapru presented to the Governor a copy of his latest publication “Meera Ki Prem Upasana”, Hindi translation of “Story of Meera’s Love”, written by Swami Budhanand of Ramakrishna Mission and Dr. Budki presented to the Governor a copy of her book “Awadhi Aur Kashmiri Lok Geeton Mein Lok Tatva”, in which she has made a comparative study of Kashmiri and Awadhi culture and folk literature. Both the authors also presented to the Governor a copy of the fresh issue of “Kashmir Sandesh”, a quarterly magazine brought out by the Hindi Kashmiri Sangam.
          The Governor complimented Prof. Sapru and Dr. Budki for the efforts being made by the Hindi Kashmiri Sangam for the promotion of Hindi language and literature.

Allegations of missing ventilators in GMC baseless, manipulated: Chib
 JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 11–Minister for Medical and Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Mr. R. S. Chib today discussed in detail the enquiry report on alleged missing of ventilators from Government Medical College Hospital with the Hospital Administration and got a briefing on various facilities being made available to patients.
Principal Government Medical College, Jammu Dr, Aniece Choudhary, Committee Members namely Dr. Tariq Azad, Dr. Manoj Chalotra and Dr. B. B. Kapoor besides, Personnel Officer, Associated Hospital Jammu Mansoor Aslam Choudhary attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the report submitted by the committee was deliberated upon in detail and it was found that there is no discrepancy in the Ventilators as alleged by some vested interests.
The Minister was also informed by the Medical Superintendent that some people, having vested interest, are fleecing the patients by using private ambulances illegally besides indulging in spreading false messages in the media.
The Minister also directed the Principal and Medical Superintendent to restrict entry of such persons to the hospital so that they could not exploit the patients. He also asked for stringent action against those who want to disturb the atmosphere in the hospital which ultimately jeopardizes the working of medicare system besides affecting the health of the patients.
Earlier, various deputations from Talhar, Jassore and Badyal Brahmana (upper and lower) Panchayats called on the Minister and apprised him of several issues relating to welfare and development of their respective Panchayats seeking an immediate redressal to the same.
The Minister assured that the deputationists that all their issues would be taken up with the concerned authorities for necessary action.  

Avail ECS to pay power tariff: PDD to consumers
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 11 - The Power Development Department has appealed the people to avail the Electronic Clearance Scheme (ECS) facility introduced by the Jammu and Kashmir Bank to pay their monthly power tariff bills without going to bank.
            To avail the facility, the consumer has to give a mandate to the J&K Bank to automatically deduct the Bill Amount from the account being operated by him from the particular branch of the bank.

Attention Jammu dist Hajj aspirants
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 11 - The vaccination of the eighty two (82)   selected 2012 Hajj aspirants of Jammu district would be held on September 14, 2012 from 9 am to 3 p m at the Hajj House Railhead complex.
 All the concerned have been asked to attend the vaccination camp at the venue at the scheduled time.

Lone, Sagar attend Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference at Colombo
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11: The 58th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference organized by Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) began today at Colombo in Sri Lanka which was inaugurated by the President of Sri Lanka Mahindra Rajapaksa. The Conference is being attended by the delegates and observers from all the Common Wealth Countries.
The Jammu and Kashmir State was represented by Speaker, Mr. Mohammad Akbar Lone as a Delegate and, Minister for Rural Development, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affaris Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar and Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Secretary, J&K Legislative Council as Observers.
The conference will conclude on September 15.

Select Committee holds meet
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11: A meeting of the Select Committee on Jammu and Kashmir Prohibition on Conversion of Agriculture land for Non-Agricultural Purposes was today held under the Chairmanship of Minister for Revenue , Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Raman Bhalla at Legislative Assembly Complex.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Mr. Abdul Rehman Veeri, Mr. Jagdish Raj Sapolia, Mr. Charanjeet Singh and Mr. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, who are also the members of the Select Committee.
The meeting discussed threadbare various issues related to prohibition on conversion of agriculture land for non agriculture purposes at a large scale and sought valuable suggestions  from the members  for solving this vexed problem.
Later, the Chairman while addressing the members, said the main purpose of this proposed legislation is to save the precious and prime source of the State and make the state self sufficient in food production.  
The meeting was also attended by Law Secretary, G.H Tantray, Commissioner /Secretary, Agriculture Production Department, Mr. Shaleen Kabra and other concerned officers.

Slathia visits TFC Salamabad, Kaman Post
Stresses on greater, regular trade across LoC
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 11:- Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr. S. S. Salathia today visited Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC) Salamabad, Uri and Kaman Post at LOC.  
The Minister was told that the TFC at Salamabad has been established with the financial assistance from the centre to the tune of Rs. 8.75 Crores. The infrastructure so far created includes Import and Export Cargo Examination Halls, Two rummages, Weigh Bridge, Malkhana/Fumigation Centre, Administrative block and a Rest Room for Drivers from across LoC.
Mr. Slathia was informed that the administrative approval for the project was granted by the State government in March 2011 and the project is in final  stage of implementation and all the facilities would be ready by end of October this year.
He was further informed that TFC Project had been executed by J&K SIDCO through its civil construction wing and major components of the project were completed in a record time of one year.
The Minister appreciated the quality of work and promptness exhibited by SIDCO in adhering to the time line for implementation of the Project. 
            Mr. Slathia emphasized the need for enhanced trade across the line of control on regular basis. He was  of the view that the list of existing tradable items could be broadened  for  boosting the economy of both the sides of J&K which in turn would help in further strengthening the relations between the two countries.
The Minister had interaction with the LOC Traders who apprised him about the various aspects of LOC Trade and difficulties faced by them. They put forth various suggestions before the Minister for the betterment of the traders and requested for providing of ATM facility, round the clock medical facility, vehicle for custodian and lifting of ban on export items like coconut and import items like Ajwain and Garlic.
It was revealed that during the current financial year the export through LOC trade was of Rs.172 crore and the import trade of Rs.252 crore had been conducted at TFC Salamabad.
The Minister was accompanied by Commissioner Secretary I&C, Mr. Shantmanu, Director I&C Kashmir M. D. Kenu, MD, SIDCO Mr.   M. Muazzum, Custodian TFC Mr. N. A. Baba and other senior officers of concerned Departments.

Goodwill Football Match
J&K Foot Ball XI defeats Mohun Bagan by 4-2
JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 11: In the Goodwill Football tournament, the Jammu and Kashmir Football XI today defeated Mohun Bagan, Kolkatta  by a margin of 4-2 in a match  played here today at G. G. M. Science College Football ground, Jammu.
                The match was organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and J&K Football Association.
The final score was tied at 1-1, then the match had to be decided by tie-breaker through plenty shoot out. In the shootout, J&K XI scored 3 goals and Mohun Bagan could score only 1. The credit of the big win, among others, goes to brilliant goal keeping by Vikram Jeet Singh of J&K XI, who is also the captain of the team.
Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Mr. R. S. Chib, was the chief guest on the occasion while Former Deputy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Mr. Pardeep Gupta, senior officers of Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council besides thousands of spectators from across the State witnessed the match and cheered the players of both the teams.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister congratulated the wining team for its outstanding performance and said that the motive of organizing the match is to promote the sports culture in the State especially Football besides boosting the morale of the players. He said various players from the State have earned fame at national and international level in the Football game. He said such events are being organized in the state with the extreme efforts of Union Sports Ministry and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Mr. presented trophy to the wining team besides distributing medals to the players of both the teams.
In an effort to encourage the players, J&K Bank announced Rupees one lakh for the winning team J&K Football XI and Rs. 20,000 for Captain Vikram Jeet Singh for his outstanding performance. Besides, the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council also announced Rupees one lakh for the winning team.
