SRINAGAR, JUNE 29: Saluting people for maintaining calm and restrain despite unbearable tragedy and grief that has befallen due to gutting of revered shrine of Peer Dastgeeer, (RA) at Khanyar, Srinagar, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim today said that a time bound Action Plan to recreate the shrine which will be a grand architectural marvel on war footing. 
            Speaking at a press conference at Banquet Hall, Srinagar, this afternoon, Mr. Rather said Chief Minister, Mr. Omar Abdullah has already issued orders for preparing an Action Plan to recreate the shrine of Peer Dastgeer akin to its original design and architecture, which will be finalized in consultation with the all stakeholders and the Sajada Nisheen of the Shrine Syed Khalid Hassan Geelani. he said it was matter of great satisfaction that all the Tabarukat are safe and intact, which were displayed by the Sajada Nisheen of the Shrine himself before the media and people.
            Flanked by the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din and Minister for Science and Technology, Aga Syed Ruhulla, the Finance Minister cautioned the people about the machination of some element who try to put the people in trouble by creating law and order situation. Citing the incident at Gundi Hussi Bhat, Mr. Rather said nobody will be allowed to disturb the peace adding that it was the prime duty of the government to save the lives and property of the people. He said people are fed up with violence and are yearning for peace and tranquillity.
            Mr. Rather said “right now our priority is recreating the shrine and restoring its pristine glory which needs peace and tranquillity”.
            Mr. Rather said the government equally shares the grief and mourning of the people due to this tragedy adding that the digital videography of the entire shrine complex and its interiors is available with the government and will be used in recreating the shrine as per its original design and form as soon as possible. 
            Mr. Rather also announced that the 2nd part of the proposed Action Plan regarding protection and preservation of the other shrine of the state will also be prepared by the experts on war footing basis.
            Mr. Rather solicited cooperation of civil society in bringing out truth about this fire incident and called upon the media to also contribute in this regard. He said media has a key role to play in this hour of agony and despair. He appealed the media to come upto the expectations of the people in keeping peace and harmony in the state so that disruptive elements do not get any chance to vitiate the atmosphere. He said an FIR has already been registered in the case and media and the members of civil society are also welcome to provide inputs which could facilitate the meaningful, investigations being conducted by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir.
            Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din and Aga Ruhulla also spoke on the occasion and saluted the people of the state for maintaining peace and harmony despite unbearable loss and agony due to gutting of the revered shrine.
Group of children visits Assembly Complex
Interacts with Speaker
SRINAGAR, JUNE 29: A Group of 28 Children belonging to Gurez and far-flung areas of the Border, who was on a tour outside the State, led by MLA, Gurez Mr. Nazir Ahmad Gurezi visited Assembly Complex here today where they met the Speaker J&K Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone and interacted with him.
The visiting group while expressing their experiences individually told the Speaker that it is the first time they have interacted with the other contemporaries outside the J&K State and it will be memorable visits of their lives.
After going through the J&K Assembly Complex, the children shown keen interest in the political affairs and tried to understand the functioning of the Assembly. On the occasion, the Speaker lauded the role of the management for conducting such tours of the children of the border areas and said these tours shall also be conducted in the future so that the children get acquainted with the other part of the country and hoped that these rural based children may achieve their goals.
            The tour of the children was conducted by 15 Maharata Light Infantry.

CME helps professionals to learn through refresher courses, online programs: DDG, IMCR
SRINAGAR, JUNE 29: Association of Community Ophthalmologist of India (ACOIN) & Kashmir Ophthalmologist Society (KOS) in collaboration with International Society of Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgeons (ISMSICS) and Vision 2020: The Right to Sight India today organized 2-day ACOIN IVth National Continuing Medical Education (CME) Session-2012 on ‘Glaucoma in Kashmir Valley’ at Government Medical College, Srinagar in which over 150 participants are taking part.
Deputy Director General (DDG), Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), New Delhi Dr. R S Dhaliwal was the chief guest on occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Dhaliwal said that ICMR is the apex body in the country which deals with the health related areas and promotion of biomedical researches. He said it was set-up with the specific objectives for sponsoring and coordinating medical research in the country.
Referring to CME, Dr. Dhaliwal said that it helps medical professionals in maintaining competency and learn about new and developing areas of their field from experts through refresher courses, publications, online programmes, audio video and live events as well.
Stressing the need for sensitizing the general masses about Glucoma, the DDG said Glucoma is an eye disease which is the main cause of permanent blindness, adding that it can be prevented and treated if diagnosed timely.  He lauded the role of Associations particularly KOS for bringing the disease Glucoma at fore front by conducting camps at Harwan in Srinagar, Sumbal in Bandipora and Chadoora in Budgam districts of Valley.
Exhorting upon the medical professionals, Dr. Dhaliwal said that they have to prepare projects to know the reasons of this eye diseases and devise innovate measures for their effective   medicare.
Describing the conclave an important scientific meeting of the professionals, Principal, Government Medical College, Srinagar Prof. Rafiq Pampori said that deliberations during the sessions would be beneficial for the participants in up-dating their knowledge.
Chairman& Founder President of International Society of Manual Small Cataract Surgeons Dr. Amulaya Sahu and General Secretary, Association of Community Ophthalmologist of India, Dr. Swapan K Samantha speaking on the occasion highlighted the activities of their respective organizations and suggested measures in dealing with the diseases of eyes.
In his welcome address, President, Kashmir Ophthalmologist Society & Head of Ophthalmologist department, GMC, Srinagar Dr. Manzoor Qadir Keng underlined the aim for organizing the CME Session in the Valley.  It would be useful for making strategy and action plan for eye care in the valley, he added.
Among others, General Secretary, Kashmir Ophthalmologist Society Dr. Sajjad, prominent Ophthalmologists, faculty members and scholars were present on the occasion.

Chairman Power Grid Corporation of India, other top brass meets Governor
                SRINAGAR, JUNE 29 – Mr. R. N. Nayak, Chairman and Managing Director, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. called on Mr. N. N. Vohra, Governor Jammu and Kashmir, at Raj Bhavan here this evening.
Mr. Nayak was accompanied by a high level team of the Corporation comprising Mr. I. S. Jha, Director Projects, Corporate Office, Gurgaon; Mr. S. C. Singh, Executive Director, Northern Region-II, Jammu; and Mr. S. K. Sharma, General Manager (Projects), Northern Region-II, Jammu.   
 During the meeting, Mr. Nayak briefed the Governor about the todate position regarding the establishment of various important power grids by the Corporation in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions for the transmission of power supply to different areas of the State. The Governor particularly referred to the urgent need for the implementation of Srinagar-Kargil-Leh power transmission line.
The Governor stressed his concern about the delays in the completion of the various power grid projects and the laying of transmission lines and urged their completion without any further delay.
Inculcate moral values among the children:  Mir asks parents, teachers
SRINAGAR, JUNE 29: Minister for Agriculture, Mr Ghulam Hassan Mir impressed upon the parents, teachers to inculcate moral values among the children to ensure development of a sound society.  He said our nation is known for the virtues of morality adding that there should be no compromise on it.
 The Minister said this while speaking at  the valedictory function of  the  “ National Integration & Peace Camp” organized by Union Ministry  of Youth Affairs & Sports and National Youth Project, New Delhi in collaboration of Department of Youth Services and Sports  J&K here this afternoon.
 The Minster said that Indian is known by morality not by violence adding that the youth have to play a crucial role to make India globally a powerful on the basis of morality not on the basis of atomic capability.  He said that our country is emerging as a great economic power but some countries in the world did not like it. He called upon the energetic youth to work for the national integration for grater cause adding that organizing of such youth camps would lead our youth towards this direction.
Asking the youth to adopt the philosophy of  Gandhian non violence, Mr. Mir said  that non violence has a huge scope for resolving the issues globally which the father of the Nation has proved it practically during freedom movement of the nation.  He said that there could be idelogical differences among the communities and states, but all the issues could be resolved through dialogue and reconciliation. He said ‘we shall have to build the  capacity  of accommodation and tolerance to listen each other’s ideas as it is the only way for resolving issues and living coherence and amity.
Asking the organizers to hold such youth camps among the states frequently Mr Mir said this would provide a platform to them to share their ideas with each other. He said the youths who participated in the camp are the ambassadors of their respective states and will take the message of peace, brotherhood and hospitality about the J&K state on their return to their homes.
On the occasion the delegates of various states praised the hospitality of the people Kashmir and said during our stay in Kashmir from last six days we could see nothing adverse as being shown by some electronic channles and print media outside the state.
