Govt mulling legal action against striking employees
“JCC Strike illegal, no possibility of negotiations”
Srinagar, June 20 (VOS): Amid growing confrontation with employees’ trade unions, the state government Wednesday ruled out the possibility of fresh negotiations with them.
Srinagar, June 20 (VOS): Amid growing confrontation with employees’ trade unions, the state government Wednesday ruled out the possibility of fresh negotiations with them.
On
the contrary the state government has given indications that it is
contemplating legal actions against agitating state employees.
A
top minister in the state cabinet has told VOS the strike called by the
employees is against rulings of the state High Court.
“This
strike is illegal and warrants action under law", senior minister and
member of the cabinet sub committee which looks after the demands of the
employees, Taj Mohiudin told VOS on Wednesday.
The
minister said the Chief Minster Omar Abdullah has made it clear that government
was not in a position to enhance the retirement age and there should not be now
any ambiguity over the issue. “Chief Minster is the head of the government and
when he speaks on any issue, nobody else in the government needs to stretch it
further", said Taj adding that after the CM's statement, there stands no
logic for calling a strike.
“Government
will not behave as a mute spectator. Such actions need to be dealt in
accordance with law, and you will see law taking its own course in the days to
come", said the minister.
"High court has called JCC strike as illegal, they had appealed in Supreme Court against the ruling where it was turned down", claimed Taj Mohiuddin. He added that now when the court has termed such a strike 'illegal', government will implement the ruling on ground. He also hinted at arresting the JCC leaders.
While ruling out any fresh negotiations with the JCC leadership, Taj said that Chief Minster has refused to hold any talks, so there was no reason to engage JCC leadership at this point of time. He further added that even CSC will only be revived if Chief Minster wishes so.
Pertinently JCC while criticizing the Chief Minster for what they termed as ‘childish remarks’ had Wednesday called for a fresh spell of agitation starting 9th of July. They had also threatened to convert the strike into an indefinite one if their demand were not met. (VOS)

Conference has asked all the general council members to attend the session. “We

The
session of the general council is also believed to be significant in the
backdrop of reservations expressed by certain members of the Hurriyat
Conference with regard to receding involvement of the General Council in its
day to day work. However, the Mirwaiz in an effort to control the damage done by
the recent controversies within the Hurriyat Conference is believed to be
putting in efforts to take everyone on board for its future programmes. In
order to ensure discipline within the Hurriyat ranks, the conference has asked
all its members to present their view point within the Hurriyat Conference in a
cordial atmosphere.
Pertinently,
the session had earlier been deferred in wake of commitments of some of its
members to the programmes organised to observe the anniversary of Late Dr Qazi
Nisar.
According
to Hurriyat sources, all the members of the conglomerate have been informed and
asked to personally attend the session, however Mahaz-e-Azadi leader Azam
Inquilabi has not been invited in wake of his severing ties with the Hurriyat
conference.
Meanwhile,
according to sources, revival of Hurriyat Conference’s legal, public relations
and Ladakh and Jammu affairs cells is on cards. According to VOS, the General Council of the conglomerate is also expected to be
briefed on the decisions taken by the Executive Council during its previous
