Chib for upgradation of infrastructure at SKIMS
30th Annual day function held at SKIMS
            SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 05: Sher-i-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah placed the state on the path of progress and prosperity who had compassion for the people of the state feeling the pain of common masses while conceiving the idea of setting up of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, Srinagar.
            This was stated by Minister for Medical and Technical Education and Sports, Mr. R. S. Chib during the 30th Annual Day function organised here today.
            Among others the faculty members of Medical College, Srinagar and its associated hospitals attended the function.
            Speaking on the occasion, the Minister while appreciating the medical fraternity of the Institute said that SKIMS has become the ultimate hope status for the people of the state. The Minister also assured that every possible assistance will be provided for upgradation and infrastructural development at SKIMS. Annual report for the year 2012 formulated by Director SKIMS was also released by the Minister on the occasion.
            Mr. Chib also inaugurated the modern equipments for the patient care including state of art Haemodialysis facility and cobalt unit for treatment of oncology patients on the occasion.

Initiatives like VSA already being initiated for unemployed educated youth in the state: Malik
            PULWAMA, DECEMBER 05: To address the unemployment of educated youth, as many as 49000 unemployed youth are being provided voluntary service allowances besides Sher-i-Kashmir Employment Programme for youth has been launched to enable the educated unemployed youth to set up their income generating units.
            This was stated by the Minister for High Education and Employment, Mr. Abdul Gani Malik while inaugurating the 3-days Employment Counselling Fair at Pulwama today. He said that various schemes have been initiated and the educated youth should avail these facilities being made available through state and centrally sponsored schemes. He said that Rs. 17 crore have been provided among the students as scholarships for continuing their studies adding that Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) has already been established in the district at Pampore to facilitate the educated unemployed youth.
            Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Mr. Shafat Noor informed the Minister on the occasion that employment and counselling centre, Pulwama has till date provided Voluntary Service Allowances (VSA) to as many as 3384 educated unemployed youth in the district. Besides, Rs. 46 lakh have been provided as subsidy among 117 beneficiaries while Rs. 118 lakh have been distributed among 174 cases as margin money in the district.
            As many as 25 departments of the district including Agriculture, Horticulture, Industries, Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry, Handicrafts, Handloom and Fisheries departments have set up their stalls to make the youth aware about different ventures for establishing their own income generating units in the employment fair.

Srinagar, Dec. 05 (VOS) : Defending  his grandfather and former Chief Minster Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah’s decision of contesting elections, Chief Minster Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that  ‘Compromise’ was the key to  resolution of issues. He said that  late Abdullah had pro- people and pro-nation ideology. “Various efforts have been made in past and are being made now to Prove Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s decisions wrong, but every time, they failed in their designs.” Omar said during his address on the 107th birth anniversary of the late leaded at Nassembbagh Srinagar.
Hinting towards separatists, Omar said that if anybody has really made a blunder, it is those who have contested elections in the past. “ If Sheikh Abdullah’s contesting elections was a mistake, I accept , but at the same time I want to tell, that those who contested the elections and then backtracked have committed even a bigger blunder.” Omar Abdullah said.
He said that Sheikh Abdullah had a vision and that vision was Pro- Nation and Pro- people. He however said that  disputes can be resolved only through compromises and discussions. “If you want to resolve the issues, Compromise is the only way out.” Omar asserted, adding that various Issues around the world were settled through compromising the stands.
Referring to the issues including Israel- Palestine, Ireland and others, Chief Minster asked, “ was the compromise  on such volatile issues also a big mistake.”

Meanwhile, describing Sher-i-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah architect of progressive, educative and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister, said that the reformative, comprehensive and equitable development concept with empowerment of common people its central theme envisioned by the late leader will loom large on the socio-economic and political spectrum of the State forever.
Omar said that universalization of education and implementation of land reforms was landmark and path breaking decisions of Sheikh Abdullah aimed at development of youth force and socio-economic transformation of farmers. He said that the principal of public empowerment to involve people in policy formulation and implementation of development programmes set by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah holds significance and importance in all times. “Sheikh Sahib’s concept of single line administration to ensure good governance is all time relevant and effective initiative to guide us in rendering needed service to the people”, he added.
Paying glowing tributes to Sher-i-Kashmir on the birth anniversary of late leader at a function held at Mazaar-e-Sheikh, Hazratbal, Omar Abdullah said that public cause remained always dearest to Sheikh Abdullah and he spent his life to seek wellbeing, dignity and prosperity for the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh irrespective of any consideration of creed, caste, region or religion.
Omar said Sher-i-Kashmir was personification of amity, brotherhood and pluralistic ethos of Jammu and Kashmir. “Throughout his life he preached and worked for unity and amity between various sections and regions of the State. His slogan of Hindu-Muslim-Sikh Ithad still reverberates every area of Jammu and Kashmir”, Omar said and referred to the sacrifices made by Sher-i-Kashmir for the State and its people. He said that peaceful means to achieve goals remained benchmark of Sheikh Abdullah’s life style. “He and his companions suffered themselves but not let people to suffer”, Omar added and said that Sheikh Abdullah pulled society from desperation to dignity and from gloom to enthusiasm.  
The Chief Minister said that the best way to pay tributes to him will be to strengthen the democratic and secular values and work for empowerment of common man. He said establishment of a powerful and viable Panchayat Raj in the State would amount realizing the dream of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Omar said that transfer of power from secretariat to grass roots and making Panchayat Raj flourish in the State is determination of his government. He asked the workers and lovers of great leader to work selflessly for development and upliftment of all sections of the society particularly those living below the poverty line.
Omar Abdullah asked the workers to make young generation aware of the high principles and sacrifices of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and his mission for prosperous, peaceful, democratic, classless and secular society in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Chief Minister on his behalf and on behalf of President, National Conference, Dr. Farooq Abdullah expressed gratitude to people and NC workers for visiting Mazaar-e-Sheikh and remembering him on his birth anniversary. Omar Abdullah also expressed gratitude to National Conference activists for working hard during recently held election to Legislative Council seats reserved for Panchayat Members. “God will give you sweet fruit for your tireless work”, he told them. 
Earlier, Omar Abdullah laid floral wreath over the grave of Sheikh Abdullah and offered fateh. He also prayed for peace and development in the State and wellbeing of the people.

Huriyat (M) to go ahead with Pak visit:
Says, Hurriyat is the real representative of Kashmiri people.

Srinagar, Dec. 5 (VOS) :Day after Syed Ali shah Geelani’s statement on  the proposed Pakistan  by Hurriyat  Conference led  by Mirwaiz  Umar Farooq , Hurriyat (M) on Wednesday cleared the air, saying, they will go ahead with the visit and said that Passport authorities should  issue the travel documents to the  Hurriyat delegation visiting Islamabad.
 According to Statement issued to VOS, spokesperson Hurriyat (M) has said that Hurriyat is the real representatives of the people and is going to visit Pakistan on the special invitation of Pakistan and is expecting good results from it. “During Pakistan visit Hurriyat will get an opportunity to check the progress for the permanent resolution of Kashmir issue because India is reluctant in its resolution since long and the primary party Kashmiries of the issue have suffered more in every manner”, reads the statement.
According to statement, both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers  thus creating tension and pressure resulting in miseries to the people of Kashmir.
According to statement, basic objective behind Hurriyat establishment is to resolve the Kashmir issue according to wishes and aspirations of people under the resolutions adopted by United Nations. “During Pakistan visit, deputation will meet with the leadership of ruling and opposition parties including various renowned personalities to check the progress in K-issue and to have considerations and exchange of opinions therein”, reads the statement. 

Court acquits   MLC Pahalgam, no case made out

Srinagar, Dec. 5 (VOS) :       Weeks after rumors of a politician having being trapped red handed in immoral act, Court on Wednesday acquitted MLC of the charges, saying Police could not produce substantial evidence against the politician.
Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM)Sgr  dismissed the case against Altaf Ahmad Kallo former MLC against whom police had registered a case under section 294 and 188 RPC. Court held that no prima facie case is made out against the Kallo.
Sources told VOS, that prosecution, in the case projected every possible argument to convince the court that the case should go for trail but no able argument was  sufficient to displace legal and factual requirements for proceedings with the trail.
“I’m of the considered view that merely hugging at public place with out there being further explanation of circumstances which could be of such nature which could deprive or corrupt minds of those whose minds are open to such immoral influences i.e common public, would not be construed as an incident or obscene act.”, held the court. “From the circumstances as are reported in the charge sheet, I don’t find any prima facie evidence available on record which would entail proceedings with the trial of the case. Therefore, the circumstances are sufficient to apply the provisions of section 249 Cr.pc and to stop the proceedings. Accordingly in terms of section 249 Cr.pc the proceedings in the chargesheet is stopped and the accused are released”, it added.
Pertinently, A former Member Legislative Council (MLC) of the ruling National Conference (NC), Altaf Ahmad Wani alias Altaf Kaloo was  arrested on 10th September this year by police at Nigeen under allegations of  obscene act at public place.

Srinagar, Dec. 5 (VOS) :        Extending support to the strike call given by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on December 10 against the life imprisonment sentences accorded by courts, Liberation Front Zonal President Rawalpindi Dr. Tawqeer Geelani has said that the peaceful protest demonstrations would be held in UK, Europe and Central Asia.
Geelani held the hurriedly press conference on Wednesday in Rawalpindi and expressed concern over the life imprisonment sentences. He has said that such kind of sentences would not discourage the commitment of people of Kashmir. He said that the strike will be observed across the border.
Geelani, while addressing a press conference on expressed concern over the recent life imprisonment to the various leaders from Kashmir. He appealed international community and human rights organizations to come farward in the interest of justice for the people of Kashmir.
Pertinently, Nazir Ahmad Shiekh and Showkat Ahmad Khan - were awarded life imprisonment by a TADA Court Jammu on Monday against which JKLF Chairman mohammad yaseen Malik called to observe strike on International Human Rights Day 10th December. Various groups including Kashmir Bar association has also extended support to the call.

CM Inaugurates FSL complex at Bemina
highlights role of Forensic Science Laboratory in punishing culprits

Srinagar, Dec. 5 (VOS):         Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday highlighted the role of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in establishing criminal cases and handing over punishment to the culprits as per the law. He said fast clearance of cases by FSL would give imputes to the investigations and shorten the process of delivering justice.
Chief Minister this afternoon inaugurated new complex for FSL at Bemina constructed at a cost of about Rs.11 crores. The Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, Legislator Irfan Ahmed Shah, Principal Secretary Home, B. R. Sharma, Director General of Police, Ashok Prasad, Additional Director General Police, K. Rajindra and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
It was stated on the occasion that Directorate of Forensic Science Services, MHA, and Government of India has sanctioned Rs.83 lakh for creation of two central Forensic Mobile Units, one each at Srinagar and Jammu. There is also proposal for creation of new divisions of Brain Mapping, Computer Cyber Crime, DNA Profiling and Voice Identification to make FSL service modern and more proactive.
It was stated that FSL has cleared 2250 cases out of the 3000 referred to it and the achievement in case of narcotics related cases has been 100%. During the current year first ever Forensic Science Conference was held at Srinagar in which 350 delegates from India and other countries participated.  



15 injured in road mishaps

Srinagar, Dec. 5 (VOS) :  Fifteen persons were injured in different road accidents across the valley. A Tipper bearing registration number JK02D/1945 turned turtle at Malpora, resulting in injuries to two persons Arshad Ahmad Mir and Nisar Ahmad Mir resident of Dodhwan S.K.Bala. Both the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. Police has registered a case in this regard.
Meanwhile, Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK05A/8892 was hit by a Maruti Car bearing registration number PB025/3160 at Kralhar, resulting in injuries to 35 years old  Meema Begum wife of Mohammad Amin and 25 years Misra Begum wife of Abdul Ahad residents of Kanilbagh, Baramulla. Both the injured have been shifted to hospital for treatment. Police has registered a case in this regard.

Lashkar supports Dec. 10 call:

Srinagar, Dec. 05 (VOS) : Lashkar e Toiba has  supported the strike call called by Hurriyat leaders on Dec. 10 against the life sentencing Kashmiri youth to life imprisonment. In his telephonic message to VOS, lashkar spokesman Dr. Abdullah Gaznavi while quoting outfit’s operational commander Mehmood shah said that the outfit extends its full support to the strike call.



Grenade recovered in Bandipora

Srinagar, Dec. (VOS): A rusted hand grenade was recovered while repairing a wall of Jamia Masjid Malamgam,  in the jurisdiction of Police Station Bandipora. Police bomb disposal Squad was called in and the grenade was destroyed without causing any damages .Police has registered a case in this regard.
 Srinagar, Dec. (VOS): Fire broke out in the shop of Abdul Hamid Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad resident of Ushkura at Tanga-Adda, Baramulla, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Baramulla, resulting in partical damage to the shop. Fire was brought under control with the help of fire tenders and Local Police.
JKLF paid tribute to Wanchoo
Srinagar, Dec. (VOS): Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has paid tributes to Aanjahani Harday Nath Wanchoo on his 20th death anniversary. JKLF leaders Advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat,Ghulam Rasool Dar Eidi and Mohammad Sideeq Shah on Wednesday visited Wanchoo’s residence and expressed solidarity with his son Kumar Jee Wanchoo and other family members.
According to statement issued here, JKLF leaders while paying tributes to Wanchoo said that his sacrifices and efforts for upholding human rights in Kashmir will always be remembered.
Meanwhile JKLF leader Mir Siraj Ud Din visited the residence of kashmir Uzma scribe Reyaz Ahmad Malik and expressed heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of his father.

Shah visits Riyaz ‘s Residence
Srinagar, Dec. 5 (VOS) :        Democratic Freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah
Wednesday went to the house of Abdul Samad Malik of Makhamma Budgam,father of Reyaz Malik, Senior Sub-Editor at Kashmir Uzma who passed  away last Monday. Shah had expressed sympathies with the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul. Shah also expressed his sympathies with the family members of the Abdul Majeed Lone of Islamic political Party whose father passed away at his home town in Handwara. Abdul Majeed Lone is currently in Pakistan. Lauding the efforts of Lone Shah said that his work and dedication for the freedom struggle is commendable. “He has always been at the forefront in the freedom
struggle,” he said. Shah also expressed sympathies with the family of Khursheed Ahmad
Bhagwan of kashtiwar.

Srinagar, Dec. 5 (VOS) :        Paying tributes to National Confernce founder and former Chief Minster Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on his 107th birth anniversary, Awami National Conference  has aid that the late leader led the first movement of Kashmir after 400 years, to help kashmiris break the chains of slavery. Party President Khalida shah said that her late father was the first to raise voice against slaving kashmiris in 1931. Party vice por4sident Muzafer Shah also paid tributes to the late leader.

                BUDGAM, DECEMBER 05: Coin citing with the 107th Birth Anniversary of Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather today inaugurated about Rs 5 crore cement concrete Bridge at Nowpora over Nalla Apzari in Tehsil Chadura which will provide road connectivity to about 10 villages including Boru, Brinjan, Kralwari, Banagund, Trajin, Khari-Gund villages in Tehsil Chadura. He inaugurated Rs. 2 crore Primary Health Centre Building at Hafroo-Batapora, besides laying foundation stone of the double storied Laboratory Block near Government Higher Secondary School Hafroo-Batapora to be completed at a cost of Rs 94 lakhs.
            Speaking to large public gatherings at Nowpora and Hafroo Batapora, the Minister while highlighting the vital importance of the Roads and Bridges said it would bring a turnaround in the socio-economic emancipation in this backward and Kandi area of the State. He said since road connectivity is primarily imperative for boosting trade and business activities the present government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Omar Abdullah has flagged infrastructure development as top priority adding that a massive reconstruction and upgradation of basic infrastructure in nook and corner of the State is under way in full swing.
            Mr. Rather reiterated his resolve to develop Char-i-Shari Constituency as a model Constituency in the State adding that 90 percent of the plan conceived for the purpose has been accomplished and this dream will come true up to 2014 positively.
            He said some defeated elements and divisive forces are happy neither with the development of the State nor with the performance of the government and are disparately trying to hoodwink the public opinion by raising frivolous issues. But the voice people of the State are aware about their nefarious designs ulterior motives and will not allow them to play with cause and interests of the people of the State. Describing the opposition like ‘Bats’ Mr. Rather said they are helpless to see the reality on the ground and glorious achievements of the government registered during the last 4 years.
            Mr. Rather also inaugurated two business units of J&K Bank at Nowpora and Hafroo Batapora. He said objective of opening of these Bank Branches in remote and uncovered areas is a sequel to provide bank transaction facilities to the people especially Traders, Businessman, Pensioners including old aged, Widows and Handicapped persons at their door steps.
            Reaffirming to the un employment problem, Mr. Rather said job recruitment process will get fillip shortly as various Court stay cases against recruitment in various departments has been got vacated by the government, paving way for vigorous employment drive, which will be purely merit based.

            In his tributes to Sher-i-Kashmir, Mr. Rather described him as an epitome of state’s pluralistic ethos, communal harmony and brotherhood adding that his dearest of the dear slogan, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh Ithhad would continue to reverberate and provide fragrance in nook and corner of the state for times to come. He said it was the outcome of Sher-i-Kashmir’s farsighted secular and pluralistic ideology that Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi saw a ray of hope in Kashmir when whole of the sub-continent was engulfed in the flames of communal frenzy in 1947.
            Mr. Rather said that the tallest leader of Kashmir, who was also popularly known as Asia Ka Blund Sitara – Sher-i-Kashmir Hamara” throughout his life fought for the upliftment of the poorest of poor and offered great sacrifices to protect and uphold dignity and honour of the people of the state.
            Mr. Rather said that the best way to offer tributes to Sher-i-Kashmir is to work for accomplishment of his mission for the “Naya Kashmir”.
