West, Europe recognise disputed nature of Kashmir: Mirwaiz
‘India trying to mislead international community by distorting
facts’
‘So called elections, economic packages no solution’
Srinagar, Oct 12 (VOS): Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said different
countries in the west and Europe apart from the Muslim nations consider Kashmir
a disputed territory and acknowledge that permanent peace cannot return to the
region unless the dispute is resolved.
While addressing the first Friday congregation after returning
from a marathon foreign tour, the Mirwaiz expressed satisfaction over the
interactions with different world leaders during his visit to different
countries.
“Kashmir dispute is a hot topic in forums the world over and
people acknowledge that a lasting solution to the issue cannot be reached
without the participation of Kashmiris in such a process”, he said adding
wherever he went, people condemned the human rights violations in Kashmir and the
international rights organisation was actively taking up the issued at
different forums all over the world.
Expressing sadness over the fact that while India is talking of
solving the dispute throught dialogue and at the same time ranting its
propaganda, he said, “In utter disregard for various treaties and resolutions
and promise it made at international level, some members of the Indian
establishment are making unsuccessful attempts to mislead the international
community by hiding facts about the dispute.”
Stressing upon Indian authorities to accept the ground reality,
the Mirwaiz asked New Delhi to take tangible steps for resolution of the
dispute, which is a hurdle in the way of development and prosperity of the
whole subcontinent.
Mirwaiz made it clear that economic packages, extending benefits
of schemes or holding so called elections are neither a solution of the Kashmir
issue nor can they help in putting the issue on the backburner.
