Gul announces Rs 10 lakhs for lanes and drains
SRINAGAR,
JULY 07- Advisor to Chief Minister, Mr. Mubarak Gul announced Rs. 10 lakh out
of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for repairs and reconstruction of
lanes and drains of Baghwanpora and Noorabad areas.
Addressing a huge gathering at Palpora
today, Mr. Gul said that government is committed to upgrade the standard of
living of the people living in uncovered areas of Srinagar city. He said
several development projects of road connectivity, agriculture, horticulture,
opening up of schools, restoration of water supply, irrigation facilities and
on spot recruitment in police force of Badi Uder area has been already under
taken by the government. He said many more projects are in pipeline to provide
succour to poor people of these areas through welfare schemes like old age
pension, widow fund, pre-matric scholarship and financial assistance to
handicapped persons.

several deputations who called on him during his visit to Idgah constituency
today.
7 days workshop on promoting professional
efficiency of Urdu Journalism inaugurated
SRINAGAR, JULY 07:- Minister for Higher Education, Labour and
Employment Mr. Abdul Gani Malik inaugurated 7 days workshop on “Urdu Sahafat ki peshawarana maharth main Farog” at
Kashmir University today.
Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof. Talat Ahmed was the Chief
guest and Vice Chairman National Council for Urdu development, New Delhi, Prof.
Waseem Barailvi was the guest of honour on the occasion.
The workshop was organized by Director, Distance Education,
Kashmir University Prof. Nilofar khan in collaboration with Directorate of
National Council for Urdu development, New Delhi, Dr. Khwaja Ikram-ud-Din.
Addressing the inaugural session the Minister Mr. Malik Said that
Urdu language needs to be given special attention and government is doing all
out efforts in popularizing Urdu language in educational as well as other
related department.
Appreciating the efforts of Directorate of Distance Education,
Kashmir University the Minister said that such workshops would go a long way in
promoting Urdu language.
Appealing Journalists
to do their job efficiently, the Minister said that the ethics of the
profession need to be maintained at all costs so that true picture of the
events reaches people without compromising with the situation.
The Minister hoped that the recommendation of the workshop would
help in propagation of Urdu language and its popularity.
Earlier, Dr. Nilofer Khan presented welcome address on the
occasion and apprised the gathering about the objective of organizing the
workshop. She also spoke about the courses being taught in Kashmir University
through Distance mode.
Prominent writer and senior Journalists, Mr. G.N. Khayal presented
key note address.
Others who spoke on the occasion include Editor in Chief Kashmir
Times, Mr. Ved Bhasin, Dr. Khawaja Ikram-ud-Din, Head of Department, Urdu Jammu
University Prof. Shohaib Inayat Malik, Prof. Waseem Brailvi,
Dr. Naheed presented vote of thanks whileas Prof. Altaf Ahmed
conducted the proceedings of the workshop.
Galaxy of Journalists, belonging to Jammu and Kashmir State and
National Press, Deans, HOD, of Kashmir University, Jammu University, eminent
poet and critic Prof. Rehman Rahi and delegates of other institutions of high
repute attended the workshop.
